🇬🇧 II. Before this trip, the first thought that would cross our minds when we thought about Sri Lanka, would be the stilt fishermen, an image made immortal by Steve McCurry. So we came looking for them... until we found out that it is a bait for tourists, that have to pay in order to take a photo. What a disappointment 😔!! We had already lost hope when, a british couple that “live” here, a while ago, told us about a spot near Dalawella Beach. There was only one tourist there. And four or five fisherman with a soothing expression on their faces, regardless of the waves. We stayed there taking pictures and contemplating that and a color spectacle that the sky drew. No one asked us for any money. In fact they didn’t even seem to acknowledge our presence because their focus was somewhere else. What a magic moment! .. . 🇵🇹II. Antes desta viagem, a primeira imagem que nos vinha à mente quando pensávamos em Sri Lanka, era a dos pescadores em “andas”, imagem imortalizada por Steve McCurry. Viemos à procura deles... até descobrirmos que actualmente é uma farsa para turistas, que têm de pagar para obter uma foto. Que decepção 😔!! Já tínhamos perdido a esperança quando, um casal britânico que “vive” aqui, faz tempo, nos indicou um sítio perto da praia de Dalawella. Só lá estava mais um turista. E uns quatro ou cinco pescadores de expressão calma no rosto, apesar das ondas. Ficamos ali a a tirar fotos e a contemplar aquele e o outro espetáculo de cores que se desenhava no céu. Ninguém nos pediu dinheiro. Na verdade nem pareciam notar muito a nossa presença ali porque o seu foco estava noutro lugar.
