Tod Mott and the amazing Tributary Brewing Co
The beer flight at Tributary
Mr. Tod Mott in the flesh
I made a quick stop to Tributary Brewing Co on the recommendation of a local brewer in Everett and was not disappointed at all. Tod is often known for his famous Russian imperial stout formerly known as “Kate the Great. In April of 2015, he had a special one day release with the same recipe under the name Tod the Lesser. Tod has spent time at Harpoon and Portsmouth Brewing Company before opening his own brewery in Kittery, ME. This is a must stop at brewery when you are in the NH or ME area.
It just so happened Tod was at the brewery and was happy to answer a few questions. We got to talking about a great method called “dry hopping.” What is that you ask? “Dry hopping” refers to the process of adding hops to the beer while it is in the cellar tank, in addition to the hops added in the brew kettle during the boil. Tod uses this technique with some of his beers that make it extremely well balanced like their current Pale Ale on tap. As always I had to get a beer tip for you guys, please see below.
Expert beer tip from Tod Mott for the beer novice:
Drink water! For every beer you have, you should drink a glass of water. Beer will dehydrate you. If you are dehydrated you will not be able to taste and experience the beer to the fullest.
