This Monday we got an introduction to how TV Studio operates. It was fascinating to experience both the gallery and the studio, seeing how everything comes together behind the scenes. What was curious is that, unlike in film, live production shifts all the action behind the camera — what the audience sees is entirely shaped by the team working off-screen. There’s no chance to pause or redo a take, so everything has to run smoothly in real time.
The most interesting part for me was working with the TriCaster. It’s not just about remembering the buttons — being vision mixer requires quick reactions, constant attention to everything happening on and off screen, and strong problem-solving skills. There’s a real thrill in making split-second decisions, knowing that even a small mistake could be noticeable to the audience. It was intense, but that challenge made it all the more exciting.
I also found it interesting how much teamwork is involved. Every role, from the director to the vision mixer to the camera operators, has to be in sync to keep the live seamless. Communication is key, and I loved seeing how each person’s contribution fit into the bigger picture. It’s a completely different energy from film production, and I can see why so many people thrive in the fast-paced world of live TV.
