We had this point based reading program in elementary and junior high and I picked up Trickster's Choice when I was 12 for something to read that would get me points, but wasn't a classic or had a boy main character like the other books that were at my reading level. I was beyond happy for something relatable to me and immediately read all the series (in reverse order lol). And now her books are my favorite and I reread them almost constantly!

Ahh I remember point based reading! I always had issues when that because I would get bored with the selections at school. I would have been elated if I had found the Trickster’s books then! Reading them backwards seems to be an accidental trend here.

I was either eight or nine, and I was browsing my local bookstore with my mom when I found Trickster's Choice. I read a lot as a kid and was always looking stuff up in my school library so after I got done with TC and TQ I searched Tammy's name in our database and promptly devoured the rest of the Tortall books (although it took me a couple years to make it through Lady Knight, for some reason). I got my two best friends into them, too, which was the best part!

That does sound like the best part. I definitely had to read the Kel books more than once to fully appreciate them, so I can see how Lady Knight could take a bit of time.

I didn't start reading Tamora Pierce until I was 17 or so. I was going through a really rough time, and just kinda binging on books to try to escape. One of those was Trickster's Queen- They didn't have Trickster's Choice and I didn't realize at first that I was reading out of order. Of course, that led to me reading everything she wrote, over and over again, eventually getting my mom into them, too! Her books and characters are a huge influence and comfort to me now.

Isn’t it amazing what her stories can do? I always turn to them when I’m seeking comfort as well.
