I've had this on my mind for a while and decided to write about it, in a modern Linked Universe AU, along with the natural elements of the game where the hero and princess will always reincarnate together to stop the great evil.
My protagonist is a pre-teen who, after defeating the great evil, lives hidden in the forest in a trailer and spends his days trying to recover from the trauma of having his life ruined and the trauma of what he did and what happened to him, one normal day, he ends up finding a strange sword stuck in a stone. He decides to pull it out (because he has no common sense like most Links), and then ends up being haunted by the spirit of the sword, which is from a different timeline.
For some reason, which I didn't try very hard to figure out myself, the duo embarks on adventures in different dimensions to talk to the people of those dimensions (something very much in the midnight gospel vibe because I love that series and all the deep conversations and the philosophy of everything that can start out simple or strange), I wanted to do something similar to one of those animated series that starts light and everything slowly falls apart, showing the dark background story and the changes caused in the characters.
My Precious Protagonist
Name: Loretto "link" Rossi
Age: 15 years old (began his "adventure" at age 12, dealing with the hidden world of Hyrule alongside the modern world)
In a situation similar to Alex Rider, he was a bright and somewhat mischievous boy when he ends up getting involved with the hidden world of Hyrule under the veil of magic (I'm not sure yet if I'll make it something like a different dimension he needed to cross or something else). He meets Zelda, who is of a similar age to him, the princess of the kingdom whom he must help and protect, even though he barely knows her and doesn't want to get involved with any of it, but great evil was ready to attack Hyrule and sought to sink its claws into the modern world, using corrupt politicians and other means to take control, and so he decides to be the hero.
He defeats the great evil after an insane and long battle, ends up expelled from school because he was skipping too much, which generated rumors that he was involved in wrongdoing, neighborly gossip also reached his home and family, and after a decision made by his traumatized and quite anguished mind about how his normal life was crumbling, he ends up getting the trailer thanks to an impolite favor in the modern world and then leaves with lies about having been accepted into a very safe camp or boarding school.
He is a very kind and polite young man, although still quite traumatized and trying to cope with it alone, he harbors a certain resentment towards Hyrule and even the goddess for his situation after learning about the legend of the hero and princess's reincarnation, but he tries to avoid such thoughts at all costs or blaspheming against Hylia, he tends to put the people he likes above himself and his needs, and despite being young, he is quite wise and tends to give advice (I don't know how to write personalities, help!).
Facts about him:
- He loves to keep souvenirs from the eras he ends up in, whether small things like pretty pebbles he found or a different leaf.
- He loves the sea and everything related to it: music, poetry, drawings, and any other type of art or writing.
- He is very good with a sword and receives lessons over time when he decides to train, even if he sometimes remembers his situation in Hyrule or everything that happened.
- He hates feeling pain of any kind (covered in scars that potions haven't been able to fully heal).
- As I said before, he tends to prioritize the needs of people he sees as friends or likes above his own, in a kind of link vibe; he would accept crazy missions like traveling from one small town to another to complete some silly delivery request or other things (which drives time crazy).
