Tridimensional Chess
Original Release: 1994
Developer: Irving A Feinberg
Publisher: Franklin Mint
Original Platform: Board Game
The game from The Original Series finally got an official release in 1994 from Franklin Mint. While the game looks great in Tabletop Simulator, it’s quite fiddly. I managed to find an Android app called “Tri D Chess” which has multiple rulesets and lets you play against an AI.
Tridimsnional Chess looks a lot more complicated than it actually is. The basic rules of Chess apply. The board is a bit longer and where the sections that overlap, you can choose which level you want to finish your move on. The small bords at the end can also be moved, but only when there’s a single playing piece on them. It’s an interesting chess variant, and one that is visually stunning to look at.

Spock & Captain Kirk (Star Trek TOS) 18.8.2018
Kirk and Spock are the kind of nerds who play chess and go visit science museums on their dates 🌈
Oh! Since it's technically 19.8., happy birthday Gene Roddenberry! Thank you for giving us Star Trek and these gays 💗
Bought a second hand tridimensional chess set, very excited but also genuinely terrified I think I might cry the first time I play it because it looks so horribly complex.
when I was in college I had a break in my class that I would exclusively use to play chess with some of the guys. I won multiple times but I largely think that was down to playing dumb and fluttering my eyelashes at them. I'm not sure I have chess skill, I think I just used to weaponise femininity to throw them off. (I won't lie this was my favourite pass time. Not really because I liked chess but because I liked being coyly effeminate and flirting a little bit, I especially loved pissing off cishet guys.)
So uh, if anyone has any chess tips please send them my way! I can't flirt my way through it this time I fear.
Rb if you know how to play Tri-Dimensional (Star Trek) Chess and are up for a spontaneous Doodle Chess Challenge in your dms
Doodle Chess : Draw/edit an image of a chessboard with pieces to play, sending it back and forth via dm or texts with each turn.

Boardgames in the News: Connect 4 on 5 Live
Board games pop up in all sorts of unusual places—who would have expected them to feature, for example, on BBC Radio 5 Live‘s post Christmas World Football Phone-in? Presenter Dotun Adebayo and editor Adam Rosser played Connect 4 live on Radio and used it to lead into discussion about other games. Unfortunately, the program somewhat perpetuated the stereotype of games being complicated even…
