Okay so after reading a few (tbh a LOT) of YouTube comments, it’s safe to say that the Tumblr part of the fandom is WAY nicer than the YouTube side of the fandom. Now I know I’m overgeneralising and ignoring the fact that there are way more YouTube fans of PSTL than Tumblr fans which makes the data skewed and what not…and you would be completely right but I lost the ability to care 3 days ago so WHATEVER. Mostly by this I mean on what the fans think is “cringe”. Frankly speaking PSTL cannot be what it is with out it being a little cringe. Some one liners feel like a 13 year old made them, some acting choice ms are one dimensional but GODDAMNIT ITS CHARMING. And they aren’t really that much of a majority compared to the brilliant writing choices he makes otherwise. I’m so sick of people and shows and characters that feel like they were made to appeal to EVERYONE by just not making them feel anything and making them cynical all the time with out change. Steve was cynical and sarcastic until it felt like the demons actually got to him. Arthur felt like he would be cynical in the beginning until his personalities formed and merged and went out again. Trills may feel like the closest thing to cynical (I keep saying cynical just bear with me) but then she just becomes so charming and I love her an-
Basically they don’t just stay mean, nonchalant people who make quips every now and again, they slowly understand their surroundings, feel pain, SUFFER and YOU get to SEE IT. It’s super fun and that’s what we (not “we” but you get it) are forgetting. It’s supposed to be enjoyable (I mean it appeals to our inner sadist to watch a man go crazy right? Everybody like that..right?). Look this is no way I dig at the YouTube fans. These people are DAMN supportive. But the criticism I see ain’t necessarily about the show and more about how it’s “cheesy” and what not. And I vehemently disagree with that mind set. Mostly because I’m sure they haven’t seen shows with sincerity, PSTL,to me at least, is full of it. Pstl and other shows for that matter should stay as “cringe” as they are..as cringe is just the byproduct of sincerity.
