I just reminded myself while getting back into my puppet phase that I genuinely love the ENTIRE CONCEPT of the Turnabout Big Top characters, I just wish they were done better. I'm not gonna get too in depth cause it's night and I'm small brained BUT!!!

For example: I ABSOLUTELY LOVE BEN AND TRILO AS A CONCEPT!! An anxiety ridden preformer who can only express themselves through a character they play as which is a complete parallel to them?? I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT!! The execution? Eeeeeeeehhhhh...

Yes 3-2 might be one of the lowest 3rd cases in the franchise for MANY reasons..I can't deny that I don't ENTIRELY hate the case, it just couldve been better. I'm a BIG circus guy and I was so exited to see all of the characters!! (I still wanna throw hammers at Max and Ben but my point still stands <3)

Berry Big Circus Shuts Down For Good

(The Berry Big Circus, 2017)

After nearly thirty years of operation, the Berry Big Circus has officially ceased all performances, citing financial difficulties, internal friction, and misconduct allegations among nearly all of its staff.

The circus's future seemed promising once ringmaster Lawrence "Moe" Curls took over after the late Russel Berry in December 2017, but in April 2019 the circus's animal taming division fell to shambles with the arrest of its second-greatest talent. Curls would face hefty fines for the animal rights violations that followed, and the layoffs that ensued spelled a dark age for this circus.

With the circus's animal taming division brought to its knees, the division's head Regina Berry quit a year later, allowing the circus to continue using her name as to not exacerbate its problems further. Three years after that the circus's head magician Billy Bob "Maximillion Galactica" Johns would go behind Curls's back and try proposing to Regina to bring her back to the circus, which she refused. Neither Johns nor Berry responded when we reached out for comment.

Ventriloquist Benjamin Woodman also declined to comment, but his wooden puppet Trilo Quist claimed that Johns was "a total creep who'd marry anyone for the social status, unlike me who believes in true love!" The remainder of Quist's remarks have been omitted for: disturbing content.

We secured an exclusive interview with Curls, who said he was "sad to watch Russel's dream die," but is "glad that's Regina's doing well for herself at least," adding that Berry is currently "acing her studies" in veterinary school. He told us that he keeps in touch with her regularly, saying he's "the only thing close to a parent" that she has left, then attempted to lighten the mood by making a joke about family reunions.

Headcanon I have adopted to make Turnabout Big Top better:

Trilo is a character.

Well, obviously he’s a character but I mean, in universe at the circus, he’s nothing more than a named doll. Now the reason Trilo is trying to propose to Regina, he’s kinda not. Let me explain.

Ben has been with the circus most of his career. He knows how sheltered Regina is and how she never got in interact with people her age, so he used Trilo to kinda give her a friend who isn’t an animal and her age even if Ben himself is not.

We need to remember that Regina is 16 and sheltered. She didn’t get to go to school and have classic high school experiences. That’s why I think Ben started using Trilo to simulate those experiences for her.

Ben does not have feelings for Regina. He just recognizes that she’s missed out on a lot in her life.

You can agree with this interpretation or not, but I just think it gives Ben and Trilo some depth and makes the whole thing with Regina less creepy. But please remember that it is just an interpretation.

One of my favorite comments on the Game Grumps’ playthrough for Justice for All is a thread where some people are defending Regina being 16-years-old since the game was localized. In Japan, the legal age is 16, so the argument is that it’s not that weird, it’s just a different culture.

But then there was a comment that clapped back at everyone in which they pointed out the localization changed ramen to burgers, as well as everyone’s names and the location. So leaving Regina at 16 was a conscious choice.
