CALLING ALL UPWARD BOUNDS IN IA, IL, OR OH

Hi, I'm Allie. I was once part of UB and graduated from the program in 2012. I want to be a Tutor Counselor (or RA, as some programs call them) and I'm looking for some in Iowa, Illinois or Ohio. I live in Illinois, but I'm in the quad cities and half of the city is in Iowa, so I'd have a ride and possible car in those states. I attend school at Capital University in Ohio and I know that I can fly out here if I need to and possibly stay at a friends house during non-residential times.

I really just want to know about the programs in these states and what ones are looking for TC's and etc etc. Application links haha :] 

I'll be a rising junior when the summer comes. (aka going from sophomore to junior)

“There will be no more Briar Cliff University Upward Bound program.”

This is so sad. This made me cry. I can’t believe it. I wish I didn’t have to go to VN this summer. I missed out. And now we won’t all meet again. The possibilities of being refunded is so low. I was looking forward to next year, and now it’s no more. I’m going to miss everyone. They are the best advisors I have ever met and they have helped me through so much. 3 There’s no more second family..

I'm truly upset to the point of tears!

I found out that the Upward Bound Trio Program will no longer be funded for the next 5 years.

For those of you who don't know, Upward Bound is an AMAZING program that helps kids get into college. Kids who don't have a chance to get into college. Upward Bound also helps kids make it through high school and offer free tutors! It's a Program that works!

If it wasn't for Upward Bound I wouldn't even be in College. Hell, I wouldn't have my CNA license if it wasn't for Upward Bounds help. Upward Bound has helped me grow up to become a better person and give me the motivation and tools to better my future.

The government always say that they are for EDUCATION. Well if they are FOR education then why are they getting rid of a program that WORKS!

i see that you're in Upward Bound. As am I.Just outta curiousity what kinda stuff in the school year and summer in UB?

Do you mean what kind of stuff do I do during the school year and summer? Um, well, we have to do one culture event during the school year and we also have three or so workshops before summer meetings happen. Last year, the culture events were basically choosing to go to one of the three plays they had listed, and the workshops were about different majors, study abroad, and some other stuff. We also have several sign ups for college visits. During the summer, we do the normal, five weeks of school at a nearby university and then a trip. This year we went to Minneapolis and the year before it was Washington, DC and hopefully, next year it'll be NYC. Oh, and during the school year, we meet once a week after school for a study session. I'm guessing it's the same for you? BTW, I noticed some of the upward bound posts on here have different names for the college students that help out. We call them T/C's around here, but some have called them RA's or something different too.
