Ok, now over the weekend I bought myself a new laptop runnign Windows 8. Well actually I bought two but I don't wanna get into that. All that matters is I finally got one that recognizes more than one monitor at a time.
That wasn't the worst of my problems tho. Spo those that know me I don't like Windows as and operating system. I use Linux. I don't care what flavor as long as I got a unix bash terminal and a /home/leo folder. Give me that I'm happy. What doesn't make me happy is how Windows has such a weak immune system and catches more viruses than a hooker on welfare day that computers switched to secure booting and UEFI.
Why do I care about this if I don't even use Windows?
Cuz it makes if fuckin almost impossible to dual boot Linux and Windows 8! Never mind triple booting Ubuntu, Arch Linux AND Windows 8! Before u open ur yaps, I have to have Windows on my machine for Adobe Illistrator/Photoshop and Visual Studio for school. If it wasn't for that Iwoulda just wiped it clean and went to town.
Needless to say my joy of getting a new Samsung laptop and 24" monitor to go with my 17" Dell monitor (which now looks tiny lol) was short lived and my weekend was spent on Youtube, Ask Ubuntu and the Arch Wiki trying to get Linux on my shiny new laptop.
So I finally got the two flavors of linux installed and booting off the same grub boot menu. Was going to go for KDE now that I got a machine that can handle it but I like the idea of a tiling window manager for programming. Instead, I'm trying out this sick window manager, actually it's Awesome (really, that's the name of it lol).
So now, with the Awesome Window Manager and Vim I will soon b able to throw away my mouse for good! Bwahahaha. There's even a plugin for Firefox that lets uses "Vim like" key bindings so I don't even need to use my mouse for surfing the web lol
Now I just need to get Windows 8 to run with out having to go into my UEFI settings and changing the boot order. If any one knows how I could add Windows 8 to my grub bootloader I would b greatly appreciated.
All in all a productive day. First day of full time classes tomorrow. Oh yayer!
