Trip Mag Issue #3 - A brief look
Here at Route we get really excited when we see new work and publications. It's always nice to see what other creatives around us are doing. We've been following Trip Mag for a while now and have loved seeing them progress and their publication grow. The latest issue explores the unique prospective of the male bravado and contemporary ‘LAD’ culture of young men of today.
The issue gives the reader a walk through the life of a ‘LAD’, that pretty much includes a night life of lots of drinking, lots of drugs, checking out what your mate has under his car bonnet and making sure you have the latest issue of Zoo. Not to forget kebab and chips with the ‘LAD’s’, then to wash it all down with a 4 pack of Stella and a night filled of xbox and most probably more drugs. You could say these guys are pretty keen on going all out and know how to make the most of a situation.
As you can imagine there are some interesting moments captured throughout the issue and a really great selection of work portraying this lifestyle. Some of the work that has stuck with me is the series of work titled, Encounters by Jack Ayton. It’s really interesting how the images provoke a juxtaposition between the bleached out, 'holy' looking backdrop with a contrasting subject. It makes the subject seem very idyllic; perhaps being seen as giving this culture of young males a place in society.
Make sure you give Trip Mag some time, have a good look around their site and follow them on their social media pages - Trip Mag
