Collage Experiment 4: Tending the Flame Within Us
It would have been so much better if Kylo was written like Dennis Reynolds from IASP. if instead of him being emo they just leaned into the unhinged egomania and violent rage angle.
that's unfair to Dennis Reynolds dfljakjjkgljkg
but in a way you're right, TFA established that kyle ron may have been physically powerful, but at the end of the day he was straight up pathetic and like 90% of people could see straight through him including the people who are supposed to be on the same side as him. Kyle tries to be intimidating and assert that he is greater than Darth Vader, but he whines and throws tantrums and destroys thousands of dollars of equipment the second that things don't go his way.
TFA has set that kyle had reached a point of no return the second he killed his father, that was kyle's cemented personal decision that he was going to continue on his path of darkness and rage. but then the rest of the trilogy had him moping and being a sadboy rat about it and it was so dumb. you're right they really should've just leaned further into his corruption, just devolving further and further into unhinged rage that may appear powerful and scary, but also shows how incredibly pathetic he is inside

“Sooo you know how I violently reject that ‘the ring binds the wearer...”
I figured a better interpretation that gives Laura more agency was that the ring wasn't really intended to belong to Mike, it just blocks out the electricity of the Lodge, (Formica is electricity proof apparently and the ring was implied to be cut out of the formica table in the convenience store scene) so by wearing the ring, Bob can't posses Laura and is forced to kill her.
Now that we have more data points about the ring, I don’t think this tracks...? People (up to and including Richard Nixon) are seen wearing the ring after they’ve poked their nose too deep into otherworldly stuff, and then they die, or at the very least their life gets wrecked. At least one death, Parson’s, is strongly Lodge-coded and MIKE-coded specifically. And then in TPTR it could almost be seen as a Lodge conductor, dragging souls and constructs there...
Dunno, I fully agree that the formica table and the ring are connected but I don’t think the connection is as specific as the material’s electrical properties, given what we’ve seen?
A collection of my OCs done by some amazing artists! Please go follow them and send them love!

Do you think HRT would've saved Mayakovsky?
The Finland of Edith Sondergran (Red Flood Fanart)
A watercolour illustration depicting the path focuses from the Hearts of Iron 4; Red Flood. This is based on the path for the Free State of Finland, where Futurists under the leadership of poet Edith Sondegran win the Finnish Civil War and turn Finland into a Kavkaz style regime based on revolutionary violence, free sexuality and uhh...eugenics. Also there's a lot of Cats.
