Traveling now through the south of China I have just left Cheng Du (where there is a Giant Panda Reserve! Photos of These guys tomorrow 🐼) and am on my way to Mt Emei one of the four sacred buddist mountains in China. Though on the way there we need to make a stop at the Leshan Giant Buddha the worlds largest Buddha! This guy is huge 72m tall and carved into the side of a cliff! A monk slept in cave while he carved out the Buddha to calm the water below where two rives met where it was too rough to travel accross and due to the amount of stone that was displaced from the cliff the waters were much calmer once the monk had finished. When visiting you descend down the side of the Buddha via a steep stair case and then walk around his feet that make the tallest of men seem like ants. These colorful incense are located at the base and come in a multitude of colours.
