when: 1st January, early hours of the morning where: orlaith & tristan's who: @walledupward
The biggest hazard of being a nurse, besides the blood and vomit, was the hours. Sick and injured people didn't care if there was a holiday, they were sick and injured regardless and expected to find a fully staffed hospital when they arrived to be fixed up. Orlaith had drawn the short straw when it came to New Year's Eve this year. Not that she minded particularly; the arrival of a new year didn't signify to her what it did to others and she'd never minded not marking it in a bar that jacked up their prices just because the calendar said December thirty-first.
The downside was that most other people didn't feel that way and spent their money on those overpriced drinks until they ended up in the emergency room throwing up. Orlaith had had to shower before she left the hospital, but at least that saved her from having to shower once she'd got home instead of just pulling on an old t-shirt to sleep on and crawling in bed. She did just that now, shoving a disgruntled Bernie out of the way first, trying to be quiet so as not to disturb Tristan, something she failed at when she pulled at the covers and a book went flying across the room, landing with a loud clatter on the floor, setting Cordelia off. Well. At least she had tried, she thought to herself as she tried to affect her best innocent face.
