I don't know where it came from, but several years ago this idea popped into my head unbidden, and for some reason it tickles me. I don't know if it's funny, but I like it and I made it into a zine, I hope you enjoy it.

It lays out really nicely as 3-up spreads on A4 paper, so you can print, staple and fold it, then cut it into 3 zines. It made it really easy to print up 20 of them to trade at this art social thing I went to

“School is typically five days a week,” Hanzawa drawled. But there was pleasure, a heady warmth, anyways, at being thought of. At the way Tashiro said don’t you like a confirmation instead of a question. “I’m easy to find. You, on the other hand… another night shift?” “Easy,” Tashiro scoffed under his breath. Clearer, he sighed, breath glancing against Hanzawa's skin. “It’s going to be nights for a while, yeah.” His eyes raked over Hanzawa’s body; he suppressed a shiver. The outside cold had seeped through him—his clothes were suddenly too thin, too vulnerable, to cover him. “But you’ll see me around.”

Hanzawa gives him a funny look, and Tashiro feels a year younger already. “The president’s always five minutes late to things.”  “Then why are you on time?”  “How about this,” Hanzawa counters, “why were you early?”  That’s not an answer, Tashiro thinks, but it’s not like he wants to offer any, either. In the heat, Hanzawa looks more mirage than ever, and when Tashiro squints he can see a beat of sweat roll down his neck. heat’s gotten to his head. He goes back to fanning himself and groans. “I’m going to die in this heat.”

Staying on Theme | Lament of Heaven's Night

The eighth video of Staying on Theme, my series on analyzing music in storytelling (and storytelling in music), is LIVE! In this video, we explore Heaven’s Night and its accompanying soundtrack, “Lament of Heaven’s Night.” I talk about how we continue to explore Maria’s character through the Dorian mode and Akira Yamaoka’s use of the tritone, aka “The Devil’s Chord.”
