#InfamousIronMan • #SuperheroSaturday • Following the events of #CivilWarII, we follow #VictorVonDoom as he attempts to both rectify his past transgressions, as well as pay homage to one of the few men he ever respected; the result of which gives birth to a new Iron Man.. one far more infamous than his predecessor. • In it’s twelve issue run, the Infamous Iron Man managed to illicit a slew of emotions from me; whether it was excitement at the prospect of a fusion between two of my favorite characters, curiosity as to how #DoctorDoom would carryout his mission as the new #IronMan, or shock as the stories’ twists & turns presented themselves with each new issue. In short, I really fell in love with this story. • Much of the credit goes to writer #BrianMichaelBendis, who really has a genuine understanding of the character; you really get the feel that this is the same Doom that we’re familiar with, but, also, not. I can still see elements of the old Victor inside this new one, but I can see that he’s making an attempt at being better than he was. It makes him somewhat less “cool,” - his old, disrespectful quips always brought a smile to my face - but at the same time makes him more compelling, because it further illustrates the fact that he’s trying to evolve as a person. • In addition to that, the supporting characters do an excellent job at propelling the #story forward; almost every character introduced holds some level of significance in Victor’s life &, as such, affect him in a number of ways. It’s interesting seeing him humanized to such an extent - especially since, in his last major story arc (#SecretWars), he was literally a God. • My only real issue with this story stems from it’s ending - specifically the final reveal regarding the antagonist. While definitely a surprise, it wasn’t one that particularly worked, in my opinion. Interestingly enough - & this may be a possible #SPOILER - it seems as though the final confrontation might’ve been paying homage to #TriumphAndTorment to some extent, which is pretty cool. • All in all, I I definitely enjoyed this comic & feel it’s worth reading. • My rating 9/10 • #AndNowBackToYourRegularlyScheduledFeed
