But, yeah, I do intend to dip back into that- probably sometime soon, in fact. I've been reading more Hellboy lately and it's gotten the juices flowing again. And we won't even address the outline for potential fics I've been neglecting.

As for any other AUs, I've only done a few sketches for it on another platform, but I've got this Saga(ish)AU I keep wanting to do more with, but never get around to it. Saga's absolutely fantastic, easily my favorite comic series and I highly recommend it. Basically it's a Romeo/Juliet story between two warring races, one with horns and the other with wings. In the AU it's a war between Trolls and the Fae. It's fun to conceptualize but I haven't done much tweaking.

Maybe someday, though.

Kanjigar and Draal in Trollboy au

They are honorary members of the Trollboy Retrieval Squad.

Anytime Jim sneaks off Kanjigar and Draal are one of the only trollhunters that care enough to track him down- Kanjigar more so because Blinky is a good friend and Draal mostly only cares because his father does.

Vendel cares too, but in his own tired-grumpy-grandpa kind of way.

The trick is trying to catch him before he makes his way to the surface, because then they’re all stuck waiting for nightfall.

That later becomes Toby’s job. But Jim responds to his methods a lot more easily because he’s less scruff-and-drag than the troll dads.

Kanjigar: How did you get him to come back? You’re so puny and weak?

Toby: Um. I just asked him to??

As far as their dynamic goes, Kanjigar and Draal are pretty similar to how they are in the show. Draal isn't as involved in the trollhunting stuff as his dad, but he's still a part of the team. He's just still young and prone to going off and doing his own thing like dating changelings.

Trollboy au: Aside from trollhunting, what Jim's hobbies and pastimes? Also, what was his life like before Blinky discovers him?

hey fun fact I wrote a response to this and the power flickered before I could post it hahahHAHA ANYWAY THIS GOT LONG-

Pre-Blinky, Jim doesn't have very many memories of a life before Trollmarket as he was but a wee tot when the trolls found him. But he does get the odd spell of deja vu when he happens upon seemingly random places around Arcadia: a random playground, a specific street or storefront in town. He's positive he's never been here before but it's so familiar wtf??

At first, when he's younger, he's just at Blinky's side constantly, so whatever he's doing, Jim's doing. For a time, he's only ever at Blinky's library or sticking to his heel as he moves around Trollmarket. He pays attention to Blinky's lessons and mission briefings, but, as someone who has raised a son himself, Kanjigar is usually the first to clue in when Jim starts to get bored. If he can spare the time, he'll engage the boy in a game or find something that could maybe be a toy for a human child? He's not quite sure, but he certainly tries his best.

As he gets older and bolder, Jim starts drifting away from his caretaker more and just starts exploring. Before long he's got a pretty good mental map of the tunnels along the outskirts of Trollmarket and knows all the good hiding places for someone as tiny he is. His favorite game to play is hide and seek, no matter if the others know they're playing or not. They usually only figure out they've been "playing" when he pops up seemingly out of nowhere, declaring himself the winner. The first few times it happens, Blinky swears up and down they're going to end up finding his tiny body in a landslide somewhere and nearly worries himself to death. Kanjigar just nods knowingly and assures him the boy is fine.

Eventually he gets bored of that and, before hes strong enough to tag along, for missions, starts asking more and more about the world on the surface. The trollhunters give him details here and there but it's never enough. Feeling particularly restless one day, he sneaks out behind one of the salvage crews and begins exploring. It's bright and overwhelming and so different and he doesnt venture very far the first day, but over time he goes further and further until he's hanging out behind a tiny suburb and accidentally bumps into a human boy trying to find his lost cat.

Toby immediately introduces him to video games, any and all TV shows and movies he's into and sets the groundwork for Jim to explore his own interests in the human world. Video games don't quite click with him and while he likes the movies, a lot of the jokes he doesnt quite get and, more often than not, most of the runtime Toby's stuck explaining every detail- not that he minds, really... well, most of the time.

The Domzalskis introduce him to human cuisine and his mind is blown. Everything tastes so different from anything in Trollmarket and Nana, what's in this?

Nana: Toby Pie, who's this polite young man you've brought over and why is he always wearing his hood up in the house.

Toby: He's just shy, Nana. Please just give him the recipe so we can go back to our game I stg.

He tries blending troll and human foods to find maybe a balance palatable to both species- other than just himself- and has inadvertently made Toby sick numerous times, but he still keeps agreeing to be the guinea pig because who is he to turn down his best friend's excited requests?

He offers a few hybrid meals to Blinky and whenever he asks where on earth he obtained such a curious ingredient, Jim just dismisses the question- nevermind that, how does it taste??

Hobby wise- other than trollhunting or cooking- there aren't a whole lot of activities he's super passionate about. But he has a very healthy sense of adventure and is usually pretty much down to try anything new. As the trolls of Trollmarket get more used to him and tolerate him more, he starts helping around with the odd job here and there. He likes the sense of being appreciated for doing something and having been able to help someone, a few trolls take advantage of his willingness to help and just ask him to do particularly strenuous or danger tasks they dont want to, but most genuinely begin to appreciate him.

Trollboy au: Claire's backstory.

Pretty similar to the show, probably, but with a liiiittle more influence from the book? Because I find the "gotta keep up the appearance of Good Daughter™ to keep parental units happy" HIGHLY relateable, personally.

And with your mom being a councilwoman and constantly in the public eye, the pressure is REALLY on to keep up appearances.

She's an honor student, gets amazing grades, tries super hard to get along with her peers and, I mean, she's canonically well liked by the people at her school and naturally wicked smart but she HAS to be and that kind of pressure sucks.

So she gets rebellious, but she's subtle about it.; dyes a streak in her hair, wears as many dark colors as she can get away with without her mom commenting on it- and she gets super into the occult. It's not that she necessarily believes in cryptids and creatures hiding in plain sight, but she's open to the idea, you know? It's fun and interesting and breaks the monotony a bit.

She gets her hands on a spellbook that she's almost positive is just a novelty item, something fun to play around with but it can't possibly be legit.

Aaaaaaand then the "seemingly innocent" book corrupts her with shadow magic and she's a threat that needs to be contained.

Enter Jim and the trollhunters.

How did they react if they found out that the strange gem embedded in jim's chest was the same amulet from the trollhunter legend

That I don't see happening until later, when he's older. He's been using his amulet passively for years, to translate language and text, and not fully understanding its the amulet doing it for him, because its always just happened. But then he's materializing weapons out of thin air and, eventually, a suit of armor and the trolls throw up their eyebrows and are like "whoa ok, THAT'S not normal- what's up with this kid?"

The older trolls, who can remember the significance of the amulet and its power and what it used to represent, start treating him waaaaay differently. While not exactly cruel, they haven't exactly been super accepting of him since Blinky brought him home. He's a weird troll thing that they don't know anything about and weird and strange scares them- canon showed us that.

When he's younger they're annoyed and evasive with him; he's puny and weird and weak and troll society values strength and lashes out at the unfamiliar. As he gets older and stronger, though, they begrudgingly tolerate him- because, yeah, he's still weird, but now he's useful and actually helpful and man does he pack a punch.

And Jim's taken aback cause know they're treating him with- what is that, respect? Courtesy?

And then, the particularly superstitious old geezers are nervous because why would the amulet come back now? After all this time? And why is it in this child? They treat him like an omen of something wicked coming their why.

Theeeeeeeen, on the trollhunting front, lightbulbs are flashing overhead because, hey, they have an opportunity to mold him into the ultimate weapon.

Cue Blinky- and even Vendel- being all "um??? No? He's but a boy???? Don't do that to him maybe???"

Aaaaand I'm genuinely wanting to write this now. Like I'm hardcore thinking about it lol
