GF3 launch at Street Level Photoworks 15/05/14

Thank you to everyone who came down to the GF3 launch last night at Street Level Photoworks, and to Malcolm, Patrick and Donna for making it all happen. Special thanks to Kirsty Logan for reading her introduction - it really added something unique to the night. Our city is a really special and creative place, and it was great to celebrate that among friends old and new. Thanks!

First Thursday at Trongate103

On Thursday I am going to a special night at the Trongate 103, they are going to open their doors a bit later than usual so that we can "enjoy a glass of wine at an exhibition preview, take part in a gallery tour, attend an artist talk, see a kinetic sculpture performance or enjoy a pre theatre meal in the beautiful surroundings of Café Cossachok whilst being serenaded by traditional Russian musicians." I really want to do it all! I am really looking forward to going back to Cossachok again, mmm Borscht! Take a look at trongate103.com.

Tunnock's madness

If you go to Scotland, friends will yell Haggis! A must try when you are in Scotland. But I honestly think they missed this: Tunnock's Tea cakes and waffles. Haha...

The madness started when I was at Trongate 103. The Glasgow print studio. While looking for prints from local graphic designers I stumbled upon a print from Fiona Watson and more of Tunnock's waffle, tea cake and coconut snow ball art came by. 

Even at the Lighthouse next to Mackintosh his architecture, this Scottish brand called Tunnock seems to be one of the prides of Scotland too haha

I've tasted the tea cakes and it's quite sweet. An egg white marshmallow on a cookie coated with chocolate. The taste resembles our Dutch 'Chocolade zoenen' (chocolate kisses), but with a more tasty biscuit. Let's day that Tunnock's is the 2.0 version. Honestly had enough after one, but can totally imagine it's success. What I find more fascinating is the cultus around this most loved cake!

Like the awesome illustration of Scottish goods by artist hwayyoungjung (above) or other creative goodies by another fan and designer Nikki McWilliams. The best way to promote a local sweet instead of those corny souvenirs.

FIRST THURSDAY

Yes yes. I haven't properly been posting for a good fortnight or so. In my defence, I was playing Street Fighter. So what the fuck do you want from me?

Anyway, tonight Trongate 103 are having one of their nice 'First Thursday' nights, meaning that there are a few new interesting wee bits and bobs on.

There's a performance by Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre. For shame, I am actually yet to catch one of their shows so I'll definitely be there, probably with bells on. Furthermore, there's a new sculpture, Merry Go-Round, by Eduard Bersudsky, showing in the foyer. Just because Trongate 103 are a bit cool like that.

Finally, the rad bastards at the Glasgow Print Studio have a new exhibition opening called Within the Looking Glass, by Alexandra Milsom.
