Hi! I was pleasantly surprised to see the demo, and my initial impression of it is a big thumbs up! 1. Things I liked: Character designs are good, they're cartoony and cute but sexy at the same time. The gestures they make are emotive too. The dialogue flows pretty naturally and seems to fit their personalities (I write "seems" because it's a pretty short demo and we haven't spent lot of time with these people). Justifying why beasts don't wear lot of clothing by weather was a nice touch :)
hey, thanks so much for the feedback!
the tone of the backstory is meant to be a contrast to the events immediately before it and the events after it, but i agree the way it’s done can be kinda jarring, so I’ll try to address that in a future release.
in regards to backgrounds, i originally started out with hand-drawn backgrounds, but they were incredibly time-consuming. the current rasterized backgrounds took MUCH less time to create and allowed me to add specific touches without obsessing over details. in addition, backgrounds for the next several days are already done! CGs however, will have hand-drawn backgrounds to keep things unified.
as for the text box, i wrestled with this for a while trying to find the right solution. having it be sem-translucent felt like the best compromise between being able to see characters’ portraits and the text not getting lost in the translucency. i’ll push it further or come up with a different ui solution if it continues to be a problem, but for now, the whole ui can be hidden with this button by hovering over the top right corner of the textbox (and re-activated with just a left-click anywhere on the screen)
thanks again for playing!
