A Poem for Troop 6000

Listen up folks, ‘cause I’ve got the scoop,

On a peerless, courageous girl scout troop,

Donning vests of green and brown,

They roll with style throughout the town.

Troop 6000, don’t forget the name.

They’re the fiercest girls in the scouting game.

As iconic as the cookies they sell,

They respect themselves and others as well.

They started out in Queens, then went citywide,

Repping every single borough with pride.

Wearing the badges and patches they earn,

Sharing the wisdom and lessons they learn.

Honest and fair, courageous and kind,

Building strength – in body, spirit and mind.

They strive to serve and help people in need,

And in the future, they’re going to lead.

In shelters, in schools, in every neighborhood,

500 girl scouts doing good.

Their City supports them; the Mayor’s Fund, too,

Troop 6000, we all celebrate you!

If after all the hoopla you’re still in doubt,

Then take it from me, a former Girl Scout:

Troop 6000, don’t forget their faces,

Because these special girls – they’re all going places.
