a fic you didn’t expect to write

something you learned this year

Hi Amaya! Hoo boy...let’s see.

1. Meadowsweet Cordial, a fantasy AU featuring Orochimaru as the beleaguered forest goth constantly getting bothered by inquiries meant for the real witch of the woods - a sparkly white witch to be exact... Dan.

It was inspired by this meme, and sat for a long while as an idea without much form, until the time came to play with it, and I flat out fell in love with the AU. There are now other ideas that could spin it into a series, but we’ll see what happens? Out of everything I wrote this year, I might have had the most fun writing it, and the words flowed super quickly/easily which is a rare thing for me XP

2. I learned that I need to be way more self indulgent than I have been in the last couple years. Real talk, some of the fruits of this might not end up shared, or may exist outside of the Nart fandom entirely? There are times where I am not sure that my faves and I have much of a place here anymore and well... that can get kind of exhausting.

what is something that your muse is fascinated with?

In canon, fuinjutsu for obvious reasons. Fascinated should be replaced with “obsessed” though. Her investment in the practice definitely isn’t healthy.

But hey! Nothing in life is healthy! Eventually we all suffer and die at the whims of our masters! She doesn’t care and is going to keep learning until she’s forced to stop.

if your muse could ensure one thing for certain in their future to come, what would it be?

This is kind of hard to answer when my muse is currently in the pits about what she can do to change the world, but I think the obvious goal for her is to make sure that no children like her exist again. She realizes that is mostly an impossible dream, but if she can do something just to minimize the amount of children hurt by war, she’ll be happy.

when it comes to self-care, what does your muse do to take care of themselves? do they take care to spend time on it, or do they feel they don’t deserve it?

Anko is pretty shit on self care in canon verses. In fact, outside of making sure she showers and eats, she’s too obsessed with whatever her current tasks are to really focus on it.

I’d say her intense sweet intake is her definition of self care.
