Troy was also most definetly became "the friend" that Chase could never complain to anything about the more jealous he got of her. It was a huge sign that showed that their friendship was going to collapse because she would be all: "Ugh, my dad can be so overprotective." and Troy would just roll his eyes and say: "At least your dad pays attention to you, not all of us are that lucky." and Chase just stops talking and feels bad. Or when she's all: "Ugh, I'm so sore from fighting that villain last night." and Troy rolls his eyes and Chase frowns: "What?"

Troy: "We get it, Chase, you're a superhero. You don't need to rub it in." and Chase opens his mouth but then another classmate chimes in and says: "Dude, she literally almost died. I think she has a right to complain." and Troy is all: "Geez, fine, sorry. Didn't mean to upset the Mighty Chase." and Chase is all: "Troy, I'm sorry. I don't know what I did to upset you but if you tell me, I can fix it."

Troy: "Why would you need to fix anything about yourself? You're Chase Choi, you're just SO perfect." and Chase just frowns and she looks so heartbroken while Troy just stands up and storms off. But then he comes back to apologize and Chase smiles and she's all: "I'm sorry too, man. I don't like it when we fight."

and Troy smiles and they hug each other.

BUT, LIKE, TROY MEANS SO MUCH TO CHASE. SHE LOVED HIM AND SHE LOOKED UP TO HIM A LOT. When she had a problem, his opinion was the first thing she wanted to hear. When she was injured because she went on a mission her parents EXPLICITLY told her not to go on, he told her that she could always come to him and that he'd patch her up. When being in the public eye was too much for her and she wanted to let off some steam, her just going to Troy and crying and raging around him.

BUT IMAGINE THAT THE FIRST MAJOR BETRAYAL FROM TROY IS THAT HALT NEEDS DIRT ON CHASE OR SOMETHING TO MAKE HER LOOK LIKE A THREAT TO CIVILLAINS. So Troy just asking Chase if they could go to their hangout spot, an old abandoned building Chase used to use for target practice, and he lets her rant and rant and she gets angry before she's all: "I JUST... I DON'T THINK I CAN DO THIS ANYMORE, SOMETIMES. I JUST WANT TO QUIT BEING A HERO, DUDE, BECAUSE IT'S TOO MUCH PRESSURE. I can't save everyone and I know that all heroes have to accept that but...I'm just scared for the day I fail and some poor civilian is gonna pay for it...or worse, someone I care about." and she's completely on fire and just throwing shit but she's CAREFUL never to throw it at Troy or put him in danger. However, when she sits back down, Troy hiding his phone and he's all: "Chase, I'm sorry." and Chase smiles and hugs him: "Don't feel bad...I know you don't like seeing burdens on the people you love but the fact that you've always been there for me, supported me, and...just, everything you've done for me, I will always be grateful for. I couldn't ask for a better friend."

and Troy hugs her back and he sighs: "I'm not- I'm not perfect."

Chase: "But you try! And that's the best thing about you, you never give up! In all honesty, Troy, you're my hero in a lot of ways."

Troy just tears up and Chase laughs and she's all: "Aw, I'm sorry, I know you get overwhelmed by compliments. Here, I'll grab us some burgers as a treat, let's go." and Troy just wiping his tears away and sniffling as he follows her while sending the video to Lisa.

AND THE NEXT DAY, A VIDEO OF CHASE SAYING "SHE NO LONGER WANTS TO BE A HERO" WHILE DESTROYING EVERYTHING AROUND HER GOES VIRAL and people are all: "This can't be true, can it?"/ "Ugh, I knew it. That damn Elazar was just corrupting her all along."/ "I never noticed...how scary she can be sometimes..." and meanwhile, Chase just locking herself in her room while Ryan calls the Justice League to DO something about this and Doris is all: "Chase, CHASE, honey, please open the door. Talk to us!"

But Chase is just redialing and redialing and redialing Troy's number and she's sending him texts.

I bet it was Lisa, she probably kidnapped you or something and went through your phone.

If you don't respond in 15 minutes, I will head to HALT and rescue you.

You would never do this to me, not after everything we've been through.

You're being forced, right? That's alright, I'll have Maikel look into it and then you can be safe and things will go back to normal.

Because you're my friend, you'd never hurt me.

Time's up, I'm heading to HALT.

and she stands up to open her window but then her phone buzzes and she quickly checks it and she sees Troy texted her:

I don't think we should be friends anymore.

and Chase furrowing her brows and she tries to text him but he blocked her. ON EVERYTHING. And Chase just tossing her phone on her bed and she just crouches down on the floor and starts sobbing because HOW COULD SHE HAVE BEEN SO STUPID.

Meanwhile, Troy is at the HALT base and he's standing by Lisa and Warden before he's all: "...I'm gonna head down to Vincent's lab, see if he needs help with anything." and when he leaves, Warden smiles at Lisa: "Wow...It's scary how good you are. I can't believe you turned Choi's own childhood friend against her." and Lisa smiles: "That's the nice thing about Troy. I didn't do anything. I just gave him a choice, what happened afterwards was all him."

and like, Chase is being comforted by her parents because she just found out that her "best friend forever" never cared about her as much as she cared about him and that her heart hurts so fucking badly because she saw the signs but she ignored them.

Because she thought Troy, even if he was meaner now, still cared about her. But she was wrong.

Dead wrong.

When your OC is feeling down or defeated, what is the best approach their friends can take? Concern and sympathy? Tough love? Humour and encouragement? Motivational lectures? Or another tactic entirely?

For Kana and Troy?

When Kana is feeling down or she feels defeated, she mostly just needs to be reassured and reminded. She needs to be reassured by her friends that they will find another way or that its not over yet and remind her that she can't stop fighting because she can't give up when there are so many people to protect.

For Troy, it's a mix between tough love to bring out his competitive side a bit more. Like when he just gets into despair and is all: "I'll never be good enough. What am I doing? I'm out of my league." HALT will respond by telling him "Then you just wasted our time. We thought you had the potential to be something great but if you're gonna throw a pity party then feel free to leave." and he thinks about it for a second and...what they said really pissed him off. HE IS TROY YOUNG, HE HAS SUCCEEDED AND SURPASSED ANY AND ALL EXPECTATIONS GIVEN TO HIM, HE'LL SHOW THEM WHOSE A WASTE OF TIME AND MAKE THEM REGRET THOSE WORDS.

Also, just invoking the name "Chase" is enough to do it too. Like he mentions how scared he is and Warden is all: "Dang, Chase-" and then Troy is all: "Actually, I change my mind, tag me in-"

Also, I think that before Elazar became a hero and was still a villain, Troy and him first meeting because Elazar was holding him hostage with some other civilians and Chase being a bit annoyed because YEAH, HE'S CUTE BUT NOT CUTE ENOUGH TO MAKE HER OVERLOOK THE FACT THAT HE HAS HER BEST FRIEND SINCE BIRTH. And he sees how protective she is of Troy and gets a little jealous until he's all: "Hmm, well, does your boyfriend know that you're constantly flirting with me?"

Troy: "...,ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT ME!?"

Chase: "Yeah, I don't have a boyfriend. I have a BOY insert space FRIEND and thats Troy. He's my homie, who I'm gonna have to take back from ya-" and like, naturally Chase gets him but Troy is all: "Honestly, just let me fall, I don't want you carrying me down and scaring the ladies."

Chase: "Your bad breath already does that."

Troy: "WRONG. I had a tic tac while you were fighting the red guy. I'm minty fresh!"

and like, after they started dating, they're really awkward and Elazar just being all: "Sorry for kidnapping you." and Troy just saying: "Yeah, you should be. That wasn't cool but its fine if you're reformed now, I guess." and sometimes Troy would be a smart ass with him but they never got into serious fights for Chase's sake.

But then Troy and Chase have their fallout and Troy joins HALT and the HALT arc happens and maybe HALT did succeed at getting reformed heroes framed and put in their cells. And Troy being in charge of overseeing Elazar's arrest and he's all: "Ha, how the tables have turned, huh?"

Elazar: "You're pathetic. Couldn't make the cut so you took desperate measures, huh?"

Troy: "HALT is so much better than the Justice League. As we can see from the fact you're literally standing in one of our cells where you belong."

Elazar: "Chase won't stand for this."

and Troy just smirks: "Yeah, I know. But she might have to if we have her alien boy toy in our custody."

and he walks off really cool and shuts the door to the ward Elazar is in but then Elazar hears him fall and tumble over something and Troy just scrambling and opening the door again: "Did you hear that?"

Elazar: "Yes."

Troy: "Aw, shoot. I was so close to nailing that dramatic walk out too."

Elazar: "Not really."

OKAY BUT ELAZAR ALWAYS HAS THE CRAZIEST SHIT HAPPEN TO HIM AND IT'S ALWAYS ANGSTY AND I LITERALLY NEVER TALK ABOUT IT but The Justice League hiding it or trying to reassure Chase that the situation is under control (it is not) like, the first week he was gone, they told her it was a slight mishap and that they hadn't gotten a signal back from him and the greenlanterns are scouring the area. One the second week, they told her that he might be a bit further out so they're extending the search. The third week, Chase DEMANDED that she be apart of the search and they decided to get her involved. The fourth week, Chase was expanding their scopes out farther with no luck. After a month has passed, the other lanterns needed to pull back because they have sectors to gaurd but Mriga offering to keep searching with Chase and Boomer volunteers too but they're out there for three months and Mriga says: "Chase...I'm not familiar with the rest of this area."

Chase: "Well, you're about to."

Mriga: "Chase, I know every planet from earth to Zulacera, which is a pretty wide range of territory. My father has taken me to many vast planets so when I say I don't know where we are: that is a very bad thing."

Chase: "Then turn back if you're so scared! Boomer and I can keep going." and Mriga frowns while Boomer says: "...If Mriga leaves, I leave." and Chase glares at him but scoffs and flies away but Boomer flies next to her: "CHASE, I just got over being stuck in the Phantomzone. I don't want to risk not being able to get back to my brothers and Eloise again."

Chase: "Then go back to them, I'll keep looking."

Boomer: "But what if YOU get lost? What then? How is Elazar going to find you when he comes back? What are we supposed to tell him?"

and Chase stops flying and Boomer continues to talk: "Chase...have some faith. He has always come back to you and it won't be any different this time. Yeah, its taking a bit longer, but that means you should just start trying to wait for him now. Imagine if he comes back and you're not there for them...You're probably going to be one of the first people he'll want to see." and Chase sniffs and starts crying a little before she turns around and hugs Boomer and apologizes to both him and Mriga.

Eventually, she does go back to Earth but whenever she has the chance, she just looks up at the sky and hopes it'll give her a clue or maybe signs of Elazar's ship. And like, Troy showing up at some point when she's just flying over the city and staring at the stars.

Chase: "Leave."

Troy: "I know, I know. I'm the last person you want to see but-"

Chase: "I said LEAVE, Young."

Troy: "...I'm here because your parents asked me. They're worried. You haven't been eating or anything...so they asked me to bring you dinner." and Chase just looks at him and she sees the bag in his hands and he holds it out for her to take.

Troy: "Smells like your mom's lasagna and she probably put extra cheese on it." and Chase sighs and takes the bag and opens it and she just flies down on top of a building to eat and Troy just staring down at her and seeing how depressed and sad she looks. AND LIKE, HER BEING ENGAGED REALLY UPSETS HIM IN THE SENSE THAT HE ALWAYS THOUGHT HE'D BE IN HER WEDDING AND SHE'D BE IN HIS, but they're not friends anymore so that breaks him because he really did throw away a life long friendship for some fame and powers. But he just looks up at the stars and he's all: "Elazar, dude, I know we haven't gotten along...like, at all. But she needs you, man. Bad."

Another stupid Troy fact but do NOT let this man tutor you because he is so insanely smart but also, if he worries that you might get a better score than him, he will leak you bad info just to sabotage you. LIKE YOU'LL DO WELL ENOUGH TO GET A SOLID A- OR B+ but he doesn't want competition for valedictorian so he's all: "Aw, damn, I'm sorry about that. Sometimes I get a bit ahead of myself when tutoring people. I'll try to do better next time."

and like, Chase did catch onto this and this was one of the red flags that raised her awareness on him because she's studying and eventually she talks to her dad to help her and he's all: "Honey, what exactly are you doing? You're using grouping and factoring when you should be using a quadratic equation." and Chase is all: "This is what Troy said to do...he might've messed up." and Ryan frowns: "I....don't think he did, sweetheart. His dad would sometimes do this "as a joke" when we were younger...not to mention that his mother is a mathematician and she'd make sure her son would never make a mistake like this."

so she never confronted him about it but when she was talking about needing to study, Troy would be all: "I can help tutor you. My parents are back from China and I don't really want to go home."

Chase: "Oh, well, sorry, Troy. I don't think you can come over because I've also got top secret hero stuff right after studying. Again, sorry." and she is lying to him because she doesn't want be: "Hey, I know you've been teaching me the wrong things on purpose so you feel better about yourself and that hurts me because I trusted you." so Troy just being all: "Oh, I get it, I guess. Hopefully you can play Minecraft with me later tonight."

Chase: "Duh, we're so close to building the Ender Portal on Hardcore mode!"

and when the next test comes out and Chase ALSO has an A+, Troy just gripping his test in his hands and he's all: "Wow, Chase, I guess you've learned how to study on your own pretty well."

Chase: "Thanks! Looks like now I'm back on track, you've got some friendly competition."

and Troy just has this weird look in his eyes as he smiles at her.

Troy: "Great." and he storms off into the empty hallway and punches in a locker door before throwing his test away in the trash.

Troy DOES have a mean competitive streak because it lowkey is a thing he gets from his mom and dad. Growing up, it was always there and it would cause him to act impulsively but he'd get his act together. Like, he'd be playing a game like soccer or something on the playground and if a kid stole the ball away from him and he ended up falling over, he'd just look up at them before he digs his fingers into the grass and he'd steal the ball from them but he would get so rough that he'd break their leg or something. Nothing to serious but he would apologize so much and everyone would right that off as a genuine accident because its Troy, he's an overall nice guy. Or a girl is bragging about how she scored higher on a test than him, he'd get so angry that he'd just push her out of the way. Only to come back the next day with his favorite stuffed animal and a genuine apology.

The older he got, the better he got at hiding it and he learned how to pretend to be okay with losing. Like, his football team loses and they're all bummed and he's all: "Hey, guys. We'll get them next time." and they all smile because how can Troy always manage to stay so positive? But then Troy would walk back home with Chase and be all: "FUCKING IDIOTS. WHO YELLS OUT THEIR FUCKING NEXT STEP LIKE THAT!? Ugh, looks like I have to put in more time to practice this year since you left."

Chase: "I'm sorry, dude, it's just that there's new hero team called "The Detective League" that I'm working on helping the Question start up and thats kind of been taking my time."

Troy: "The weird guy whose been found digging through people's trash?"

Chase: "Hey, there's a method to his madness, but yeah, overall he is weird."

Troy: "Yeah, well, looks like its up to me to carry the team from now on."

and Chase chuckles: "Oh please, you're Troy Yong. You can handle anything."

But now that he's with HALT, they all try to nurture that competitive side more and his beasts definetly exploit that as well. Like, he's training with the Triplets and he's not doing so hot and Iwazaru just calls in a break because they're getting nowhere.

Iwazaru: "What is up with him? I know he can fight."

Mizaru: "Well, in those situations, he was dealing with Chase."

Kikazaru: "Oh...I just got an idea." and he smiles deviously as his brothers grin at him and when they fight Troy, THEY ARE RUTHLESSLY TAUNTING HIM. Telling him how slow he is, how sloppy his technique is, how Chase Choi fought all three of them and put up way more of a fight. And Troy just growls and in his head, he can hear Qion Qi say: "Monkeys are the most foolish when there is no tiger to keep them in check. Make them pay for their insolence." and Troy just looks up and Qion Qi's tiger mask is on his face before he stands up and elegantly flips his guandao around his neck and gets into a fighting stance before he charges at them. He puts up a relatively good fight and he's just going all out on them. Since its the Triplets, all three of them are laughing and dodging him as they continue to taunt him. His rage and anger and jealousy just consuming him more and more until he finally stays his Guandao through one of them and he gasps and drops it and Qion Qi's power fades from him.

Troy: "O-OH, SHIT. I'M SO SORRY." and Mizaru giggles before he disappears and a piece of his hair falls to the ground.

Iwazaru: "Hey, chill out. We can clone ourselves, remember?"

Kikazaru: "That was most impressive Troy. Luckily that wasn't the real Mizaru because that wouldn't have ended well...for you, that is."

Mizaru: "Haha, you should've seen the look on your face!" and Troy smiles nervously at them but he's all: "S-Sorry I lost control like that, man, I still feel bad."

and Iwazaru chuckles and he's all: "You can pretend to be the nice guy all you want but it won't help you here, Troy...We actually made progress today, try to keep it up."
