Are You Really DJing?
It is getting harder and harder to define what a DJ is. If you put a group of twenty or so DJs in the same room, none of them will agree on a final definition of the word. The most basic and friendly definition of it is regarded as a person who simply plays music for a crowd. This might have nothing to do with the skill of mixing music, but rather being able to play the right song for the right occasion. Another way of looking at it is defined as the amount of skill the person has to impress a person who is not a DJ. When an audience member cannot figure out what is going on or assumes one thing and hears another – this must be a real DJ, right? Even professional DJs who do this for a living have a hard time defining themselves or placing their skill into a recognizable category. One might say that entertaining the crowd is the ultimate goal here, while others focus not on the static, but that advancement of an art that is constantly changing before our eyes. My version of a DJ might be a bit shallow, especially for those who are just getting into it. http://www.djtechtools.com/2014/10/23/are-you-really-djing-a-trak-and-the-real-djing-debate/
