“There is no true obedience where there is not free obedience.”
~Karl Barth
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
Mark 8:35-38 KJV
Calculated Ideas
Life has changed accordingly. Some people say you can't always get what you want. Maybe your wants are too tight around your waist. It's a small question of choosing your new way. Young and bold, the changes come with every beat in the breast. Let today be the day that benefits your future. Prayer is a hope. A choice that is not ours. A selfless act which places your want into a generous thought. It takes a ♥ and a hope to pray. As it does in this story. Plume was a faithful wanderer. She resided on a mountain for some time, a stream passed by her abode. The sun glimmersed upon a large metamorphic jewel of great value, which Plume harvested into her bag. A very poor man in rags came to the mountain in search of a new life in the desolate land. Plume accepted the poor young man into her house, where they shared a warm meal. Upon seeing the stone in her bag, he proposed she give it to him. She did not hesitate to share the great wealth of the mountain. A season passed and the man returned in his rags. He said to Plume "I returned to ask you to give me another thing". He pulled the valuable stone from his rags and said "please give to me that quality which presented a complete stranger with this gift of tremendous value".
Everything should start on 'what Jesus did for me' then your 'what can I do for Jesus' will just follow. Because you can do this and do that just because of legalities but your heart is not really into it. You're maybe asking 'why is there no joy?' That's the time you really have to check your heart, go back to basics, redirect your focus. True obedience will only be achieved because you understood and received grace first. When you received grace with all your heart, that's the time you will obey wholeheartedly. :)
