So crazy it’s been that long!!! I was still feeling my way around the anatomical style when I got the email from @darkhorsecomics asking me to do a #variant #comicbookcover for #TRUELIVESOFTHEFABULOUSKILLJOYS !!! Keep swiping right to see the work put into this cover! . Here's the cover I designed for @gerardway @ShaunSimon @beckycloonan 's comic book. Really stoked to have been a small part in the #Killjoys universe. This was a ton of fun (& twice as much drawing)! Hope I get to play in their sandbox some more. #NudgeNudgeWinkWink . This is the sketch for the cover. I had to draw the anatomy on one page and the line art for #Korse on another page and then line them up in photoshop. I always draw more than I’ll need just in case I need to make changes. So much work… Nowadays I’ll draw on sheets of paper & not in my sketchbook. . Then I mocked it up as the cover to make sure I don’t screw it up & to show the editor (Sierra) the direction I was going in. I had no idea how the logo should go. Dark Horse did a great job designing the cover. . Once approved I inked it! This was back when I worked at 11x17! My hands are still angry. But I’m still happy with how it turned out! . Here’s a mock-up of how the two pieces would work together. This was meant to act as another update for Sierra. It was cool to see it reprinted in the back of the Killjoys hardcover back in 2014. It was not cool to see some artists “borrow” this style and make a career out of it… . I got permission to produce this as an official limited edition print on regular paper, vellum, and foil!! I added some new pieces to the background collage.
