Growing up I never realised the beauty of these beautiful shrub forests. Perhaps the evergreen forests capture our imagination more easily. But the rustic nature of these dry deciduous plants that are so well adapted to the local conditions is amazing. Sad that we clear them away as wasteland. It's ridiculous to see pitch green paddy grown in such conditions. For instead of creating an artificial wetland pumped with chemicals to grow paddy / sugarcane here... One might as well grow them in Mars. Am sure Bezos of Amazon fame will be happy to accommodate with his spacex program. The beauty of the hardy Millets that are native to such conditions is quite self-evident.
