One of the things I absolutely love the most about my job is that once I gave up control of "what" I paint (to the people that bring me the two ideas) my universe expended exponentially. I learn about the things people care about and push myself as an artist way out of my comfort zone. These two Thangs were the #trungsisters and the #africanfuturism movement . One piece of vietnamese history that was amazing to learn about and an art concept I really admired but had never incorporated into any artistic thought. This was a really fun painting to make.
