The walls don't close in. They get further and further away. My surroundings seem to grow, tall and increasingly out of reach. No wall, no corner, no place to lean and hang my head. There's a balloon trapped in my chest, caged in by eager needles. I breathe slow. Breathe too fast and I'll surely puncture it. My thoughts drizzle on to me. With every drop, I gasp for air. The downpour hits. Quick, shallow breaths. Waiting for the clouds to pass. This is what my anxiety feels like.
