Birthday Bliss.

It was my birthday recently and while July truly was a roller coaster of all the shadow emotions and projections right up until my special day, I have to say that peace and grace has returned. And thanks to a blissful, fun filled, gut laughter and shared love celebration with my dearest friends. I’ve made it a bit of a tradition over the last few years to go all out for the birthday and as much as it is my day, my friends always end up having their day too. I love that. It’s the one day where I show up for myself unashamedly and everyone else does the same in both loving me and loving themselves. It’s no wonder I’m rejuvenated. As is tradition, I spend the entire celebration only drinking champagne, looking fabulous, dancing to my hearts content and feasting on the abundance of my life. In conversation with my friend Yusuf earlier this week we realized that for us our birthday’s feel like the official start to the new year, we’re grounded and expansive all at once and ready to continue to blossom. All I want for my new year is more Glamour and Peace. And judging by where I know I’m heart centered at, I think I’ll be receiving just that!

Here are some moments from the weekend. We partied into my birthday and then went to the fabulous Mulberry & Prince in Pepper street for my official birthday brunch. The Bellini’s, abundant plates of delectable food, beautiful setting and wonderful company made it such a special experience. As for my birthday looks, I’m sure you can see the glamour I was spoke about earlier. My looks came together completely unexpectedly. I bought my glittery black blazer at a vintage market a few months ago with no specific purpose in mind, only to realize later that I could pair it with a pair of velvet leggings I’d recently bought. The way I ended up accessorizing the look was all about amping up the glam. I call my pre-birthday look DYNASTY! As for my brunch look I put it together the friday before, every piece is vintage that is now almost 10 years old since I first bought it (no new clothes) and the blazer is my mother’s from her 20′s. I felt like a Versace barbie in my brunch look, someone on the gram said CARDI. All I know is I’m FINE AF! 

Happy birthday New Year to me! I’m wishing us all the continued growth towards our truest selves and the grace of gratitude to embrace the glory love within.

Last of summer.

There’s only a few more days of summer left although here in South Africa I think we’ll definitely experience hot and sunny weather throughout March, which I don’t really mind because I love sunny weather and it’ll mean that I can wear my gorgeous wedges well into Autumn. I was planning on doing that anyway, I mean have you seen the Casey crossover wedge from Rubi, it’s as pretty as it is comfortable and once again right on trend while being classic simultaneously. It’s a shoe I know I will wear year after year.

For this look I styled the wedges with my textured mini backpack that you’d have seen in my previous. My dear friend Sammy Joe and I came up with this look over Milkshakes at Royale. As usual I worked with what I had in my closet. I paired my moody blooms, high waisted pants with an over sized yellow strap top and accessorized with the wedges and backpack. I knew that the green nail polish would offset the elegance of the pearl drop earrings well, giving this otherwise sophisticated look a bit of edge. And I think this look works well as a transitional look for Autumn, throw on a cute jacket or blazer over your shoulders and you’re good to go. 

It’s the perfect look for a cute lunch catch up. My favorite part of this look is the green nails, what’s your’s?
