Since Clover retired, Vandelay needed a new head of finance, and Roxanne decided to fill the position with her son. He was supposed to be only a temporary replacement but ended up replacing his own mother.

Kale returned to the island not long ago from rehabilitation and kinda lacked a sense of direction in his life. Roxanne wanted to help him by keeping him occupied with a job, so she chose him for the position (plus his second degree is in finance).

She also thought that being around people would have a positive effect on him since he had to spend several years of his life away in medical facilities. Plus, he knew all of the other heads since he was younger. But things didn't go well.

He was cold, and it was hard for others to find common ground with him. He was especially hostile towards the head of security, Jack, for seemingly no reason. The only person he talked to was Melon.

An unfortunate incident during a violent hurricane left many feeling devastated, especially Kale and Jack. The latter - resigned, and the former - went on an insane destructive trip.

The fact that Roxanne decided to take Kale off position didn't help either. In good faith, she saw that things got worse for his mental health, and she wanted him to process it without more stress from work, but he interpreted it in a twisted way.

And since Vandelay was now left without its security head, there was no one to stop Kale…

Trivia:

He doesn't really need glasses; he wears them because he is insecure about his right eye.

He very much doesn't like being touched and always fully covers his body.

Former head of finance department (and Roquefort's ex-husband) - Clover. He retired because he felt like he was no longer up for the job. Shortly after, Roxanne appointed a temporary replacement to fill his position until they could find a more suitable one.

Fun fact: Clover is a bit of a wizard; the crystal on his cane is the same stuff that robots have in their core. There is a hidden mechanism to make it fire a beam.

Doing some designs for my AU. This is Mimosa after she became a better person / got reintegrated back to work in Vandelay. And all thanks to Chai! She even got herself dragonfly-like wings. ✨
