Then, as I pursued a life of healing arts and mentoring others, I started dressing like an old conservative lady. My husband wasn’t very excited about it and still mentions the bag-like dresses I used to wear during that time. I remember looking at myself in the mirror and realizing I had given up part of myself as a woman. I was seeing my personal life paying for it. That’s when I knew I needed to reconcile healing arts with being able to express myself fully as a woman. I knew that many of my students were dealing with this and other issues related to their femininity and could benefit from the same integration I went through.
