What’s Taylor’s most personal song in your opinion?
You know, this is actually something I've been trying to figure out for myself lately and my answer changes. The thing is almost all of her music is deeply personal, and she can write and sing as earnestly about being horny (like "Dress" or "Sparks Fly") as about the end of a relationship ("All Too Well" or "You're Losing Me") as about fame and connection with fame, her band and herself ("You're On Your Own Kid," "Nothing New," "Long Live") as about depression and hardships in relationships ("this is me trying," "hoax," "coney island") as about infidelity (from "Should've Said No" to "ivy").
I don't think there's just one. I think that like 95% of her discography is personal in different ways. (There are a few early ones I think are mostly fictional and based on daydreaming about love, but her feelings and shifting romanticism over the years are projected on them: from "Mary's Song (Oh My My My)" to "Stay Stay Stay" to "happiness.") Her most honest? I think is often said plainly, such as in "Anti-Hero" or "Sad Beautiful Tragic" or "Cornelia Street." But I think she also really thrives in shrouding her darkest, most honest feelings in a slight shroud of mystery, like she did on folklore and evermore. The ones already mentioned above come to mind, as does "mirrorball." I really think it contains some of her most honest lyrics about fame and how she sees fame and herself.
