How to use "The sims 4 studio" - unproffecional walk-through by GG

The sims 4 studio is where i make most of my CAS custom content as well as some coding for the mods - it's pretty easy to use, but let me get you a walk-through regardless!

keep in mind that some of the things in my ts4s are in polish. I'll translate most important things + most of it is in english anywayz

the apps I use to create my mods

The menu

Remember to make sure that in the SETTINGS the sims 4 path is correct!

Usually when creating CC you will create a new STANDALONE - a 2d editing of an already existing object. For example, when you want to create a new hip tattoo.

3D MESH - when you want to create a new 3d object like a furniture, new shirt etc - or want to create a copy of already existing object (to change the codes etc)

Override - you change something in the borders of already existing object permanently. For example, when you want to use a new shade of blonde on ALL blonde hair in the game.

Idk about the rest lol, i almost always go with STANDALONE

Pick the right box, and after picking the right dot click the blue button, in this case: CAS

Let's say i want to make a new eyeliner. I pick an object similar to what i have in mind (especially placement) and click it. If i want to add more recolors of the same object, i can use shift and add more boxes (this way, i'll have more recolors i don't have to manually add later. Usually i pick just one window tho). Then, click NEXT

Save the project file. Put this file straight in the MODS folder to check the effect in the game as you go. It's important to see how the cc looks. Remember that if you're still in the process of creating you shouldn't use the sims because it may crash the game. Make sure every stage is at place, save, turn off studio and turn on the game (especially if you're creating a code)

Working space

I usually don't make a custom thumbnail for objects like eyeliner, nails etc -the game will automatically make it for you, with the same camera placement as in-game objects. For example if i make an object based on an eyeliner object, the automatic thumbnail will be the sim's eye + how my new eyeliner displays in the game.

If you want to make a custom thumbnail, click the green esport to so you'll get right picture resolution, add you custom thumbnail and import it. The thumbnail for female and male is set separately

Click EXPORT to export the existing file - most CC are made with clear background, based on Sim body texture templates, like this one

You draw OVER it, and then hide the image itself so there's a clear background. Then IMPORT it into the file.

Then switch from texture to categories.

Here you can edit every technicality about the cc - who can wear it, how much it costs (if it's a buyable object) etc

Remember to save the project at the end!

[Tutorial] How to Transform Any Item into a Businesses & Hobbies Selling Table Using Sims 4 Studio (Tags and Tuning!)

!!! This is a beginner-friendly tutorial !!!

I love some items that are a bit old and whose creator no longer updates their mods. So, I decided to create this tutorial to help someone who might be in the same position as I am.

The items I'm talking about right now are the Hidimant Food Display, Golden Meriklime Display and the Faerie Queen Mara's Cart. I love these items so much but they were uploaded to Patreon in 2020 and the author seems to have retired from the modding community (if I'm wrong, please correct me, but I couldn't find anything about the author outside the Patreon and a page on the Sims 4 Studio forums).

Anyway, here is how to transform these items so you can use them in your Small Business with the Businesses and Hobbies DLC:

[PART 1] How to find the correct Tags and Tuning

First, you have to open S4S (Sims 4 Studio). In S4S, we need a reference for how an original object works. So we'll select the "Object" button (image below).

The functions I want to copy are from this item:

When clicking on next, the S4S will ask you to save the object. Since we're just need it for reference, you can name it wharever (I named mine as "delete.package").

Make sure that the opened tab on the top left is "Studio". You'll see that on the right menu we have some options, the ones that are important in this case are the "Tags" and "Tuning" ones.

First, select "Tags" and copy the tags that are used. In this case:

Then, select "Tuning" and copy what is written there. In this case:

Now, you can delete the "delete.package" and go back to the S4S home screen to start modifying the items you actually want to modify!

[PART 2] How to add Tags and Tuning to an item in Sims 4 Studio

Now, back to the item I want to make changes to.

Back on the Sims 4 Studio home screen, we’ll click on “My Projects” and select the item you want to change. In my case, it’s “Hidimant Food Display Shelf” by Faebacea.

Select the “Studio” tab and click on the “Tags” tab again. We can already see that the tags are completely different from the ones on the object we are using as a reference, so now we need to update the tags.

Make sure to select the correct tags and remove the extra ones. I recommend not changing the 'colors' tag because it helps us use the color filters in-game. :)

After that, go to the Tuning tab. You can see that the tuning is also incorrect (object_TableNightstand), so change it to the correct tuning (object_SmallBusinessSystem_LightRetailSurface)!

And that's it! The item is now ready to be used in your Small Business!

⚠️ Make sure to click "Apply To All Swatches" for each option (except for the color tags, of course!).

⚠️ Make sure to click "Save" after you finishing doing all the changes and now you can use it as a seller display in-game! 💞

⚠️Don’t use cheats (bb.moveobjects) when placing selling tables, otherwise the Sims won’t buy anything (this is also true for the original items from the pack).
