Idk insert a cool title for a cool past memory fic
Around ten years ago..
It was an average day at the academy. Students walking around, some reading, some chatting, others training, and a human child running from the mabu assistant.
“Can’t catch me, Hugo!” The young girl shouted, running with some sort of upgraded switch blade.
“Sagittarius, I swear to the portals, if you don’t return that blade to Mags right now!-” Hugo yelled, running as fast as he could to stop her.
Sagittarius giggled, not noticing the ledge that was only inches away. The mabus anger quickly switched to fear as she got closer to the edge, trying to run faster, which only scared away the young one more.
“Sagittarius, watch your step!” He yelled as she felt herself fall forward, screaming. Immediately, she tried grabbing onto the grass, only to start slipping before Hugo quickly grabbed her hand and tried pulling her up. “Hang on, I got you! I think..” The assistant strained, slowly getting pulled forward by the girls weight before feeling his jacket get grabbed and pulled backwards gently by some large crocodile like hand.
“Alright, what’d she do this time?” The anthro crocodile asked, pulling the mabu and human onto the land them letting go of Hugo’s jacket, watching him sit down and pant.
“She took something Mags made.. again.” The mabu huffed. “Man, I am not built for this.” He exhaled one more time.
Sagittarius gave an awkward smile, knowing she was in trouble.. again. Wasn’t the first time she did this, and it wouldn’t be the last. The crocodile looked at her, somewhat disappointed yet unsurprised.
“You know, you could just stop taking her things, Sage.” The crocodile skylander crossed his arms, staring like a disappointed parent.
“I was gonna give it back! At some point..” she mumbled the last part to herself, getting a heavy sigh from the crocodile.
“Hugo, why don’t you rest a bit and I’ll take the little thief here to Mags, eh?” The crocodile gently pushed the young girl forward.
“Good idea, Snap shot.” Hugo, wiped out, raised his hand to show a thumbs up. “Holy portals, does that kid way more than I can carry.”
At mags lab
Mags looked around her lab, feeling like something was missing, again, but couldn’t put her finger on it.
As she pondered, she heard a knock on the lab door, getting her attention. Curious about who it was, she went to the door, opening it to reveal Snap shot standing next to a nervous Sagittarius.
Mags exhaled, a mix of annoyance and non surprise. “What ya take this time?”
Embarrassed, the young child held up the upgraded switch blade to the inventor, avoiding eye contact as the purple woman took the blade and stuffed it in her pocket.
“What could that thing do, anyway?” Snap shot questioned.
“It just injects rattle snake venom into whoever gets stabbed.” Mags shrugged. “Rattle shake gave me some.”
“ … I see.” The crocodile gave an unpleasant look.
“Sorry, Maggy..” Sagittarius fidgeted with her hands, embarrassed and guilty. Mags sighed, still pretty disappointed, but not too mad with the kid. “… Can I still stay here until my mom picks me up?”
“She get done training for the day?” The inventor asked the skylander, who looked at the child and got a tiny ‘mhm’ from her in confirmation. “Alright then, Come in Sage. But we’re gonna have a little chat.”
Sagittarius walked through the doorway and into the lab, slightly nervous. “Alrighty, I’ll just go then.” Snap shot shrugged. “If ya need me, you know where I am.”
Mags gave the crocodile a small nod, watching him start his way back to the academy before shutting the door, turning her attention to the young girl looking at her hands.
“So.. you mad at me?” The young portal master asked, getting a sigh from the inventor.
“No, not at all. Disappointed and annoyed, yes, but not mad.” She answered, loosely folding her arms. Sagittarius looked down, still embarrassed. Mags ended up squatting down to her level and placing her hand on her shoulder. “Why do you keep stealing my things?”
The kid shrugged. “I dunno, it’s just cool!”
Mags stared, raising an eyebrow with a somewhat resting bitch face. “‘It’s just cool’?” She questioned, not believing that was the entire answer.
“.. I also wanna try it out on some things.” This reply from the kid made Mags sigh once again, sounding somewhat like a groan.
“Sage, I love ya like my own kin, but you gotta stop stealing my things.” The inventor pointed her index finger at the kid. “They’re not toys, you could seriously hurt yourself.”
“Rich coming from the lady that likes to build robots to test my powers.” The (very) young portal master snarked, watching Mags roll her eyes and get up.
“Ya know what I mean, you turd head.” The inventor playfully pushed Sagittarius, getting a stupid little giggle from her. “Just quit stealing my things, okay?”
“No promises, Maggy.” The young one smirked, getting another eyebrow raise from the purple lady, only this one gave a lot more sass.
Mags just gave a small scoff before a soft smile crawled onto her face. “You’re lucky I can’t stay mad at you, kid.” She chuckled, waking over to the cabinet to grab something. “So, how’d training go today?” The subject switch got the young Sagittarius excited, happy to share the things she’s learned and improved on.
“It was awesome! I’m getting better at using my healing powers and my glowy green blasting orb things- oh, I can also use grape vines now! Isn’t that cool?” The portal master beamed with joy.
“Very cool, Sage.” The inventor nodded.
“Master Eon says I can’t use it when fighting him though, which is kinda lame..” the young one crossed her arms, somewhat annoyed by this.
“Really? Why is that?” The purple humanoid questioned, only getting an annoyed shrug from the girl. “.. Well hey, you can use it against bad guys all ya want.”
“.. True.” The child nodded. “I can slam the big baddies against the walls with ‘em! Boyakasha!” Her tone somewhat dramatic with the last word, making the inventor giggle.
“What in Skylands is ‘boyakasha’?” Mags couldn’t stop giggling at what the kid said, only getting another shrug from the young one, this one more playful.
“I can’t say ‘boom’, Flynn apparently trademarked it.” Sagittarius chuckled, watching the purple humanoid shake her head, not giggling as much now.
Mod notes: okay the “Boyakasha” is actually meant to be a tmnt 2012 reference. Anyways, this is wayy longer than I originally wanted it to be but whatev man.
