BikeFlights.com adds to the fun at the Trans-Sylvania Epic

BikeFlights.com would like to congratulate all the participants in this year’s Trans-Sylvania Epic mountain bike stage race held near State College, Pennsylvania at the end of last month. Racers took on either three or seven days of mountain bike racing over everything from rocky singletrack to buff fireroads - all through the lush green, fern-filled forests that characterize the area.

New for this year, BikeFlights.com not only helped racers get their bikes to what is one of the best off-road stage races in the world, but also sponsored categories to recognize the talent of up and coming young racers as well as established veterans.

The top under 25 men and women impressed at the Trans-Sylvania Epic with riders like overall U25 classification winners Payson McElveen and Emily Shields and stage winner Cole Oberman mixing it up with the best elite riders.  

Caption: The BMC Under 25 women battled all week long, and at the end, Emily Shields (Project Dirt / BMC) went home with the win.  BikeFlights.com provided extra support for the young ladies by donating a bike travel case which will help them getting to and from future races.

In the Masters 40+ division, Nathan Ruch - clad in his BikeFlights.com leader’s jersey - took top honors to win the seven-day classification while Jim Matthews claimed the Masters 50+ overall victory.

BikeFlights.com also sponsored the first of the seven stages, an individual time trial that kicked off the week’s racing action.  The stage 1 time trial was won by Cheryl Sornson and Jeremiah Bishop, who also went on to claim the overall elite victories.
