Mark Your Calendar for the 23rd Polo for Charity Event
Looking for something different to do? Something fun for the whole family? Tired of the same old festivals and gatherings? Then you won’t want to miss the Lowcountry’s social event of the season – the 23rd annual Polo for Charity match to be held Sunday, October 23 at Rose Hill Equestrian Center, Bluffton. Gates open at noon for the 2:00 p.m. match, sponsored in part by The Scout Guide Hilton Head Island and Bluffton!
Polo promises to be a good time for all. Be sure to arrive early to enjoy the breathtaking ambiance and to set up camp for the afternoon. Wear your favorite chapeau and set up a rockin’ picnic spread to compete for the “best hat” and “best tailgate” awards.
If you love to dress up, this is the place to show off your latest fashion finds. With warm Lowcountry temperatures in October, women sport colorful sundresses and long maxi dresses while the men break out their seersucker, bow ties or the occasional Hawaiian shirt. If you prefer more comfortable attire, the ever popular shorts and flip flops are also acceptable. Just be sure to wear proper divot-stomping shoes, needed for the halftime festivities when the crowd is invited on the field to replace the divots created by the ponies.
If your favorite part of any event is the food, then you won’t be disappointed. Get your friends together to create a delectable array of scrumptious food paired with the perfect beverages. From fried chicken on paper plates to fancy shrimp appetizers on china, beer in solo cups to Prosecco champagne in crystal, you’ll find unique displays at every tent and picnic blanket.
Polo for Charity is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Okatie with proceeds benefiting local Rotary charities including the Moss Creek Marines and Paws 4 Vets who provide service dogs for disabled Marines. Platinum team sponsors this year are Engel and Vӧlkers (Real Estate and Property Management) and Lang Capital (Retirement, Investment and Tax Specialists.)
Tickets are $15 per person in advance and $20 day of at the gate. Children under 12 are admitted free. For more information contact Barbara McFadden at 843-298-3055 or [email protected]
