You guessed correctly! Scenario B was the one that actually happened. Working together as a group, your characters came to the correct conclusion and realised that the effects of the wine would eventually wear off, and they just had to wait it out. However, things were not that simple...
Those affected by the curse on the wine eventually discovered that everyone was hiding in the library, and managed to smash through the barricade in place. With no other means of escape, the only option was to fight through them to get out of the main entrance. Some bravely fought off the attackers so that others had the chance to flee, becoming grievously injured in the process. Those who escaped barricaded themselves in the wine cellar to wait it out, and when the dawn came, the effects of the wine wore off.
Those who had been influenced by the cursed liquid were quarantined until it could be certain that they were back to their normal selves and filled with regret for their actions. Since it could not be certain how the Necromancer managed to slip cursed wine into the celebration, the decision has been made to depart for Illyrium once everyone has been healed, as it is easier to defend against outside forces.
OOC
So you’ve got two options here:
Option A - Your character was one of the ones to hold off the attackers so that others could escape. Please note, if you choose this, your character will have been injured in some way and I will message you with that injury.
Option B - Your character was one of the ones to flee and hide out in the wine cellar until everything was over. Your character will have no injuries unless you choose to add some.
Please reply to this post saying Option A or Option B for whichever one you want your character to have done. If you have multiple characters, please specify the option for each of them.
Everyone must write a solo para (length doesn’t matter) describing what happened to their character during the plot drop. This can include events at the ball, but should mainly describe their thoughts and feelings when fighting or fleeing the library, how they got their injuries (if they got any), and how they feel about the move to Illyrium. Please tag these paras with tskplotdrop01.
Everyone is still in Abdera for the moment to allow for characters to be healed and react to the news that the Necromancer already has spies amongst them and the move to Illyrium. The action will be moved to Illyrium next week on February 13th, and the first event will be a love and romance themed one since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Please remember that Illyrium is known for being very isolated and not welcoming of people who are not elves, so your character (unless they live there) is probably not going to be that keen on going.
Mini Summary:
Reply to this post with Option A or Option B by Thursday 8th February 10pm GMT to determine if your character was injured or not.
Write your solo para about the events of the plot drop and tag it with tskplotdrop01. You have until the 13th of February.
We’re moving the action to Illyrium next week, but for the moment everyone is still in Abdera recovering from the events of the plot drop.
Everything seemed to be going perfectly at the ball. Everyone was getting along well and it finally seemed as though people were putting aside their differences for the sake of unity, and then the screaming began. Inexplicably, people began to turn against everyone, including friends and family, and were extremely violent. They seemed determined to kill anyone and everyone. Within moments, the ball was a bloodbath, and all of those unaffected by this sudden rage fled in panic. The guards sealed the doors to prevent any of the suddenly violent guests from going out and slaughtering people in the streets, meaning that the guests of the ball were trapped in the palace with uncontrollably violent killers. Many managed to escape, and they have sealed themselves in the palace library.
The goal now is to survive, work out how this happened, and decide how it can be stopped.
OOC:
So this is our first plot drop! It’s going to be split into two stages, and this is part one, which is a sort of whodunnit mystery for you to play along with! Everyone is now barricaded in the library and trying to work out how this happened and how they can stop the killers and escape. I’m going to give you three possible answers of how this happened, and it is up to you to choose which one is correct. I’ll put up a poll in a few days that allows you to vote on which scenario you think is the right one, and the one that gets the most votes will be used in the second part of the plot drop whether it’s right or wrong. If the correct answer is chosen, then the second half of this plot drop will go well for your characters. If most of you choose the incorrect option, then some bad things are going to happen (but don’t worry, I’m not George R.R. Martin, so I’m not killing any of your characters off for this).
Some ground rules:
This first part will last a few days, so until I make a notice to say that it’s over and the second half is beginning, please remember that your characters are barricaded inside the library. You can post starters, but remember that they must be set inside the library and no one can leave it under any circumstances.
There is only one entrance/exit to the library and it has been barricaded by bookshelves.
The only weapons are those that were on your character’s person if they had them. These should be limited to swords or daggers. You are allowed either one side or two daggers, but not both. This will be important for the second half of the plot drop, so I’m just making you aware now.
Your characters are still in their ball clothes, so no armour.
Although this first part will last a few days, canonically your characters will only be trapped in the library for one night, but they don’t know that.
You can continue old threads, but all of your threads set after this plot drop (including starters) should be tagged as tskplotdrop01 to avoid confusion.
Here are the solutions to how people turned so violent so quickly. Only one is correct, so you should take the first part of this event as a chance to discuss each scenario in character with each other. Your characters should be talking to each other to get everyone’s ideas and decide what you believe is the correct solution. I will put up a poll soon for you to vote.
Someone in attendance at the ball enchanted certain people to become violent killers.
A bottle of wine served at the ball was cursed, and everyone who drank it suffered the effects of it.
This was an inside job, and those who have turned violent were actually paid to kill certain targets while making it look random.
