One of my favorite twice-weekly garden tasks has been to go out in the evening or morning and de-head the poppies to promote more blooms. I cannot believe how long they continue to reflower. Some of the best ways to welcome your travels and favorite destinations home is to welcome into your garden plants that remind you of those places. When I see flax I cannot help but escape to Normandy in my mind and the information and history @sharonsantoni shared with me during a drive we took throughout the northern France countryside early one Sunday morning. To say it felt like serendipity that my new home had an abundance of flax is an understatement and a definitely selling point for me (not that I couldn’t have planted it myself, but having it already here felt as though the universe was speaking directly to me). Two celebrations in one day makes today a great day: Mother’s Day in the US and Gardening Day in the UK! The pots are beginning to be filled at Le Papillon! This year I am investing in a handful of terra-cotta pots to put my tender herbs in as well as my porch displays. Not only are they timeless, but they are less heavy, yet still durable when it comes to making a beautiful outdoor display. Look for a post in the coming weeks of glimpses around the yard.
