My boy Hoshoryu with the 突き出し?? He can do it ALL
January 2016, Day 14, Homarefuji v Tamawashi.
Tamawashi channels E. Honda today and completely dominates his opponent with a barrage of tsuppari slaps. Classic sumo.
November 2015, Day 5. Kotoyuki v Kyokushuho.
I like this Kotoyuki kid. He's only 24, has a great physique already, and lives or dies by his tsuppari. Today he lives. A 3-2 record on Day 5 for someone in the 6th slot for the first time . . . not too shabby.
November 2015, Day 4. Amuru v Kotoyuki.
Thanks to Byron's question, today's theme is "nodowa." Nodowa is a technique where you basically push your opponent by the throat. It's legal as long as you don't squeeze. Slaps and open-palm thrusts are legal, too, as evidenced by this bout between Amuru and Kotoyuki. Both wrestlers start the match with "tsuppari" or palm strikes, but Kotoyuki gets the upper hand (ha) and uses a constant barrage of strikes to the face, torso, neck, and chin of Amuru to keep him elevated and off-balance. Amuru tries in vain to deflect Kotoyuki's arms from below by pushing up and sideways on his elbows and upper arms, but Kotoyuki's rhythm isn't disrupted in the slightest.
