He almost made it.
It was a valiant effort, what with willing himself out of his apartment like he did, and managed to get all the way to the expensive apartments in town without falling asleep or getting lost. He believed accomplishing this much warranted an award. He thought about how nice sleeping would be as a reward, and noticed how soft those luxury carpets looked, and thought testing them out would be just-

Indeed, they were soft carpets, as soft as a blanket, and away he went into sweet dreams.
