PACESETTER x READER
Graham has a big ego, which is no surprise to anybody. But the thing is about people with massive egos, is that they're almost always deeply insecure and trying to hide it.
When talking to Flint about it, he seems all confident about it and sure of himself, but when Flint asks why he doesn't just ask you out, he comes up with some excuse to avoid it.
Because after all, even though he's "so great", there's always something in the way... He wants to scope it out first, he's just not sure about it yet, etc..
Eventually he settles on waiting to see how you feel about him.
But once he notices how often you visit him, and sees how you look at him, he hatches a plan.
If you're a toon, in the midst of a heated battle with some other toons you'd hadn't met before, the others had been sent back to the playground it was just you and him, and you prepared to wave the white flag, but he stops you and confesses that he wants to go on a date with you.
If you're a cog, he feigns conducting a "very important meeting about your performance". In reality, once you're there with him, he offers you a drink and just, hangs out with you? It's strange, but he seems to expertly tilt the conversation into him confessing his feelings, and that he thinks and hopes you feel the same.
Either way, you accept, and he's overjoyed.
He will GUSH about you to any toon or cog who'll listen, regardless of your species. Talk about awkward, being a toon and watching your cog partner absolutely blow your cover. Or being a cog, and watching your partner slow down the battle with a bunch of random gushing.
He needs a LOT of reassurance, but he doesn't know how to ask for it, so he'll usually end up asking really depressing questions with a really casual tone of voice.
"So uh, why'd you pick me? I mean, I know I'm great and all, but you totally could've done better."
"Graham? It's because I love you??"
"Okay but like WHY though"
Stuff like that, where he's so calm about his insecurities as if trying to act they're not insecurities, and just curiosities.
His love language is DEFINITELY touch and giving gifts. You and Flint sometimes laugh with one another about how over-the-top he can be, the conversation ending with both of you chuckling and sighing about how you love that idiot.
He WILL find an excuse to hold both your and flint's hands at once by the way. Narrow road? Easy, someone's getting piggybacked then.
Overall he just makes a big show of being in love with you both in public, but is an absolute sweetheart in private.

I actually wrote this a few months ago (when I got this ask) and it’s been in my drafts ever since because I was worried Anon wouldn’t like the direction I took it. There was originally going to be a whole sex scene because I felt that was what the ask was truly about but I was struggling.
