Not sure if you're actually gonna do this but I saw the ask meme prompt and thought, "You know what we need, some romantic (sorry) development between Ultimate Jessica Drew (The female Peter Parker clone) and Mary Jane" since I think it was confirmed canon that she was in fact gay? Not sure what prompt number is best since they all could work. Hmm... maybe... ooh 36 seems nice - "We'll figure it out." Ooh maybe 92 - "I want you to be happy." Like I said, all these prompts are good
what a good ship omg they’d be precious together
“I love you” Prompt: “We’ll figure it out.” // “I want you to be happy.”
Jessica grimaced and blew a strand of hair out of her face. She watched in the mirror as it fell right back where it had been and sighed.
“MJ, I’m hopeless, come save me,” she whined. Behind her, Mary Jane laughed and rolled off her bed. She padded over, wrapping Jess in a hug from behind and resting her chin on her girlfriend’s shoulder.
“You look fine,” she reassured her. “Stop stressing yourself out.”
“I wanted it to curl!” Jessica insisted, lifting a lock of definitely-not-curled hair into MJ’s line of sight. She shoved the curling iron to the other side of the vanity with a growl.
“Hey, hey, take it easy.” MJ dropped onto the bench, facing her. She took some of Jess’s hair between her fingers and pursed her lips. “This isn’t really about your hair, is it?”
Jess gaze fell. She leaned into MJ’s side, then glanced up into their reflection.
“No,” she said after a moment.
“Well then talk to me.” MJ interlaced her fingers with Jess’s and gave her hand a squeeze. Jess took a minute to figure out how to phrase it.
“I don’t know how to be a girl,” she admitted eventually. “I’ve got all these vague memories in my head of what it’s like to be a boy, and how girls seem to be, and I just-- I don’t know, none of it seems to fit. And I don’t know how to dress or act or-or--” She gestured to the curling iron. “--do my hair. I want to be my own person, but I can’t seem to do anything for myself.”
Mary Jane tried to meet Jess’s eyes in the mirror, but the latter was staring idly at their intertwined fingers.
“You’re stuck with a boy’s memories of what girls are,” MJ said. “And I love Peter, but he’s pretty clueless. About everything.
“And you don’t have to girly,” she continued. “Or a girl, for that matter, but we just had a sexuality crisis so we might leave gender until next week.” Jess laughed and tugged MJ’s arm around her shoulders so she was pressed against her chest.
“Fair enough,” she said. MJ smiled down at her.
“The fun thing about not knowing your style is that I get to dress you up in all sorts of stuff,” she said, waggling her eyebrows.
“Oh, god, should I be worried?” Jess groaned. A smile played at the corners of her mouth.
“Definitely.” MJ giggled and kissed the top of Jessica’s head. Jess scooted down the bench so she could lie down with her head in MJ’s lap, looking up.
“This sounds like a nightmare in the making.”
“Trust me, babe.” Mary Jane carded her fingers through Jessica’s hair, smoothing it down. “I want you to be happy. So I’ll limit myself to only one sequined mini-skirt.”
“You’re the worst,” Jess laughed.
“I’m just good at bein’ bad, baby girl,” MJ said, throwing in a smolder for good measure. She couldn’t keep a straight face when Jess started cracking up and buried her face into MJ’s stomach.
“You’re so cheesy,” Jess managed eventually, her breaths stolen between giggles. “I don’t know what I am, but I hope it’s not that.”
“Whatever you are, we’ll figure it out,” said MJ. She leaned down to press a gentle kiss against Jessica’s lips. “Together.”
