Sneak Peeks: Fidella
Something that always bothered me about Fidella’s design from the show was that her mane detached from her neck. I understand that animation can be whimsical and illogical, but in Twisted, both main characters are very logical people and it just wouldn’t make sense if Fidella’s braided mane could float above her neck as she ran. Classic Disney films also uphold proper physics for the most part, so I wanted to follow suit. When I drew her for the first time, my brain kept trying to “correct” her face by thinning it out. Often times, female animals in animation are given finer features than the male animals, but in Tangled the Series, Fidella is much larger and bigger boned than Max. I like that she is a different breed and that this sets her apart from other female horses, but it was a struggle to draw what I was actually seeing compared to what my brain thought I should be seeing.
