The Turtle Outta the Trenches had made an equally grumpy pal. She's my oc who usually works at the Earls Estate, (an idea I borrowed from @locomotive-paws's lovely artfight attack on her that I really love- I originally only planned for my old grandma Rowan to work at the Estate ) but when the SRR needs a spare, Duncan's happy to see here. Well, as happy as he is to see anyone but Rusty.

Mimic Petra

My cranky old toaster Petra as one of @mwolf0epsilon's Railway Mimics. Inspired by @lordvonbunnyv's speculation on trench loco mimics.

And actually, it was @locomotive-paws who gave me the idea to make a armoured-beast Petra. So, thanks everybody!

Mimic Version of her history:

Petra is domestic petrol mimic who currently belongs to the Earl of Sodor and pulls supplies like turf and mulch, and occasionally tourists. Though timid, she is very cantakerous, and has a strong dislike of Germans, towards which she becomes extremely aggressive (as you can see from Märklin). She is Sodor's few Petrol Mimics, and as such, requires a specialized herbivore diet. She has thick claws for digging.

Her first job however, was serving the British troops of WW1 in the trenches of Belgium. Her shelled body provided both camouflage and protection, although she sustained a bullet graze across her nose bridge.

After the Great War ended, her service was no longer required by the War Department, and she was given as surplus to the Committee for the Research of Living Mimics (CRLM), and her trauma response was studied, her shelled body pried at, along with her fellow mimics there. When Dr. Leland 'the Scavenger' Wood and his Committee was disbanded by the Royal Society, (thanks to the efforts of the NWR) the Earl of Sodor bought her (and her fellow mimic subject, Rowan) to work as part of the railway museum on his estate.

She later took a fellow WW1 trench mimic, (@lordvonbunny's Morgan) under her proverbial wing as a friend and fellow veteran, and sometimes visits them during their restoration, comparing notes and joining them in singing songs picked up from the troops. (though Petra's voice sounds like a 'broken cheese grater' according to Duncan).
