Did a ttte tierlist and-

Thinking. Putting my favorite train blorbos in mlp.

Lady would be an alicorn. Proteus would be a griffin, Smudger and Godred would be unicorns (Smudge would have a broken horn but he'd still be able to do magic it'd just take more effort).

Stanley would be a pegasus, Monty a unicorn, Bertram an earth pony, Millie would be a pegasus too.

Hallowed Shining Moss thoughts:

Lady loves Smudger but is ambivalent towards Proteus (she oscillates between regarding him fondly and getting irritated at how possessive he is of Smudger (that's her little mortal guy)).

Proteus regards Lady with a curious fondness (because he does love her but also likes to tease and fluster her) and he really likes Smudger (he is possessive of him low-key) in the "I wanna study you while you run around in a maze" way. Proteus does love Smudger though, his heart has been completely captured by Smudge.

And Smudger loves both of them. He loved Lady first (and has known her longer).

She saved him from the brink of death and whatnot, while Smudger encountered Proteus in the woods one night and was enamored by the cryptid guy.

Because Lady and Proteus have a history, she was uneasy about meeting him again, but when she learned that they both liked each other, she and Smudger decided to invite Proteus into their relationship as their third.

Smudger x Stanley is an interesting pairing to me because they're doomed as hell. Both of them.

Smudger is the more positive of the two to me.

He's an unserious jokester, while Stanley is more grumpy and closed off (but with those he's close with he's a lot more open).

And then I think about their respective dynamics with the other narrow gauge engines (⁠ﾉ⁠≧⁠∇⁠≦⁠)⁠ﾉ⁠ ⁠ﾐ⁠ ⁠┻⁠━⁠┻

Like out of all my favorite engines, Stanley and Smudger are my faves. Like they're so similar narratively but personality-wise they're so different to me.

Their individual bases, and their everything.

Thinking about how my favorite ttte characters would look in a Dark World type environment...

...Stanley would definitely be like Dess (disappeared/the Knight), trust.

Stanley and Smudger could wear each other's liveries. A red Smudger would be really funny to see running around, as would an olive green Stanley.

Sometimes when I'm working with freight at my job (pushing u-boats around) I think "this must be how Thomas feels whenever he's shunting trucks."

I am in a Stanley/Smudger angst mood, tbh. I want them both to suffer, together.
