“No tales.” Mr. Richards interrupted, his graying brow locked in a stern glare. “The derailment today was your fault, and you know it. You upset our passengers, compromised the trackwork, and damaged yourself by being a swanky little twerp and taking risks. I will not have such carelessness on my railway.”

“But sir-”

“One more word of excuses from you, Number 6, and I’ll have whatever’s left of your wheels and running motion stripped off and given to Dooiney!”

A long silence hung in the yard.

“N-number 6?” The red engine finally asked.

“Yes. Number 6. The workers are going to take off your nameplates first thing in the morning - after they’ve finished cleaning up the mess you made.”

“You- you can’t!”

“You forget. You are an engine on my railway.” Mr. Richards aggressively pointed his cane between the engine’s eyes. “I gave you that name, I can sure as hell take it away. Maybe it’ll take this foolish attitude with it.” He sighed, and strode away, producing a lighter and a cigarette from his waistcoat as he went.

Silence once again reclaimed the mountain railway.

“Perhaps,” Ernest said, at last, “it’s time we told you why our railway lacks a number 1.”

culdee fell engines

so considering the culdee fell engines dont have much of a personality outside of like....3 of them i have decided to make some up myself so heres the culdee fell engines!! [also some hc colors for them if they were in the tv show] - Culdee: basically how he is canonically, patient and cautious. he tends to be a bit nervous when near the area where Godred died. overall pretty close with Edward and in a way looks up to him despite only being about a year or two younger. obviously very close w Catherine and gets mild separation anxiety when not near her. - Godred: basically how he is canonically, was quite fond of culdee but never truly admitted that. as a ghost he is extremely annoyed that new engines were ordered and although the others cannot see him, he haunts them. still a very arrogant engine even now that hes dead. - Patrick: while he became much more careful that little bit of arrogance didnt fully leave. acts a lot like an older brother, would die for u but would also steal your food. never has real ill intent but sometimes ends up going a little too far. - Eric and Alaric: in this hc they're twin engines, Eric is the more funny one of the two but both would gladly pull a prank if asked. Alaric is the more friendly one and also despises his paint color as Eric immediately joked about it. - Wilfred: the skarloey of the railway, quite close with duke. hes the cool granddad of the group and if you have any worries you can always come to him for it. hes much more quiet than the others but he enjoys being around everyone else even if theyre quite chaotic. - Shane Dooiney: a very friendly but somewhat clumsy engine, surprisingly close with Alaric. he tries his best even if he has the habit of messing up sometimes. when humanized he often trips over his own feet. - Ernest: very similar to skarloey, hes another old boy. He and Wilfred are basically gays and semi parented culdee once on the railway. Ernest is more playful and energetic, commonly complaining about the others in a more teasing manner. and ofc heres all my hc colors for them

RANDOM STUFF:

Wilfred is said to love music (he canonically whistles) so that’s kinda the reasons why I’ve picked Brook like if Ernest is the wise elder figure, Wilfred is totally the eccentric bouncy grandparent 

I Gave him a more whimsical look like Brook like fancy (two feathers just for aesthetic) yet still willing to get dirty. Fun fact the music notes on his coat are from the Swiss national anthem, he has a conductor staff just for fun of it (his name and number are on the back of his coat) 

Human/humanoid au he totally knows how to play many instruments and sings, totally uses the radio 📻 to listen to music, I know he looks like a henry but I saw a slighter different color on him on Deviantart made by LeatherBootlace with yellow so I added that to him

Off topic but Wilfred totally adopts my cfr diesels ocs (Corran Aldyn Shiloh Poll-ny-Chrink) since they also are musically in-tuned, he’a also a grandfatherly figure towards the others as well despite his moments of cynicism and age gap

Kyle very much has so many outfits throughout the years like the ones I’ve drawn during his time as Proteus so this would be of one his first appearances, he chooses the more storytelling fairytale like aesthetics like his feet are made entirely of gold dust so are his clothes he wears a cape simply to cover others in need and I tried to lean a bit more into his heritage

he looks up to Lady (still does but branches out later on and different views over humanity and morals and rights and wrongs that stuff honestly it’s complicated…) so sparkles at first he’s happy and excited over learning despite breaking down in tears to lady cause he wanted to fit the role despite being very modest and humble trying to look at the bright sides of things✨

kyles necklace is made up of many good luck charms like (four leaf clovers 🍀 horseshoes eye of Fatima etc)same with his belt he gets once he decides to wear a outfit he feels comfortable in, still quite elegant but he feels like himself since he still has control over his life somehow plus he brings good fortune instead of granting wishes (he kinda can but there’s a price)

Everyone in human au except Kyle (who’s mixed Bengali-Punjabi) and Adam (Filipino, maybe Jewish?) are Latino cause I couldn’t help myself haha , still working out the details on specific ethics

Henry has heterochima, still haven’t figured out the shades out though and Kyle can turn his sclera pupils and retinas into complete shades of different yellow to fit his new status (that was fun since he can use it to fit his cryptic nomad style later on after his first official fight) only his eyes remain sparkling gold in every other form✨

Reunion (Porcelain Monster)

Culdee looked across the table at his long-lost brother, Godred. He was still getting over the shock.

"Where did you go after the estate sale?" Culdee asked, and Godred frowned at the memories those two words referenced.

"It's a...long story Culdee." He sighed. "But, I'll tell you."

"Maker fell ill shortly after Eric's creation, leaving her very weak. Her age wasn't helping either. Despite this, she continued to push herself, to make one last Doll. I tried to keep her from pushing herself, but she insisted she was perfectly fine. She didn't want any help either, and that's what caused her death." Culdee opened his mouth to reply, but Godred continued, a frown marring his features.

"I remember it vividly. Maker was carrying some heavy boxes, with the intention of taking them to her workshop, to continue working on the 8th Doll. Wilfred and I were trying to help her. Wilfred was offering to carry the boxes, and I was trying to tell her it wasn't good to push herself like this, that shouldn't be carrying heavy things. But she wouldn't listen."

" 'I'm perfectly fine!' she told us, refusing Wilfred's help and my own. 'I have to finish this Doll, and I will, so stop trying to-!' Her face suddenly fell slack, and she collapsed, dropping the boxes with a loud clatter. She died there shortly after."

"As soon as she died, it was clear what was going to happen to me. Lots of Maker's family came to collect all of the things she had left after her death."

"Due to my... unique appearance, I wasn't bought, unlike you and our siblings," Godred paused, and sighed. "I...was put into a wooden chest, and, forgotten, for 15 years." Culdee stared at him in horror.

"H-How did you get out?" He asked.

"The wooden chest was brought, and, I along with it."

(Im pretty sure u called this alr bc im predictable) but what abt Godred and the other two (3 and 0) for the ask thing (or ship thing idk-)

I didn’t actually predict this so I’m honestly surprised. Godred; Timothy and Alfred eh? Oh boy this is gonna be long but LETS GO!!!

Let’s start with Timothy first:

OTP: Timothy and Alfred. My wife and I ship them and Kroven together as an open relationship kinda thing but I first made it be that Timothy had no love interest. (Due to his mental health)

BROTP: Timothy and Thomas. The two are brothers so I see a Bromance with these two a lot despite Timothy wanting to kill his brother just to move on.

NOTP: Timothy and Godred. Ironic but it’s true. Plus I doubt the two can go 5 minutes without trying to kill each other from how annoying Godred is.

MEHTP: Surprisingly; Him and 311. Timothy died going off the Viaduct and 311 died trying to cross a bridge. They both died tragically and both wanted revenge. But with 311 moving on and Timothy not moving on, It’s a Meh for me.

Rarepair: I don’t really have anything here for Timothy. He’s just a spirit lol I don’t see many shippings with him.

Next up; Alfred:

OTP: Alfred and Kroven. Friends until Alfred went crazy and got himself killed but Kroven’s love for Alfred will continue on until Alfred is brought back and the two can start dating lol

BROTP: Alfred with Either Henry or Gordon. Despite the fact that Alfred wanted them dead, Alfred wasn’t really thinking right so I bet he would have get really guilty for what he did.

NOTP: Alfred with Geoffrey. I have seen videos where the two never got along and to be honest I can see why; Especially if Alfred is being the nice guy for once. Their relationship just won’t work.

MEHTP:Alfred with the female engines. If he wasn’t gay in my world; I would make him for a girl but I would have to see who would work well for him and that’s gonna take a long time to do lol.

Rarepair: Hmmmm; Alfred and Timothy. I can definitely see the two getting along so well and especially when they both wanted to murder innocent engines.

And Last but not least; Godred:

OTP: Godred and Ernest. Godred grew up with Ernest but I don’t consider them as brothers due to Godred being much older than Ernest. Plus Godred did name Ernest so I feel like it would really impact him.

BROTP: Godred and Culdee. Culdee was being so nice to Godred even after Godred had his accident; Culdee wanted to help him but he couldn’t. It’s like an Older brother; Younger brother kinda thing for them.

NOTP: Godred and Catherine. Godred is too mean and Abusive; Catherine deserves better than that Bastard.

MEHTP: Godred and Wilfred. Eh; I don’t really see this shipping nor have I seen Godred get shipped with him.

Rarepair: Godred with the rest of the Culdee cell railway engines. Godred likes Power and it’s already bad enough that Godred is a Jerk to some when he was around
