'Smell-shrub with slender leaves'. Originally described as Calea leptophylla in 1786, followed by 200 years of argument about whether it should be in Cassinia or Ozothamnus.
Another paper daisy. This particular species is endemic to New Zealand, where is thrives in coastal to subalpine shrubland and scrub whereever other ground cover has been removed. Erosion gutters and avalanche chutes are ideal. Tolerates most soil and salinity types.
Other species in the genus are found in New Zealand, Australia, and New Caledonia.
