mm mmmmmm u know anhar most likely doesn't have a lot of really deep and meaningful relationships because a) he's always moving around b) he's always looking for a way to martyr himself on someone's sacrificial pyre (the pyre is metaphorical but. you get it) and c) that tends to put people off despite the fact that he's not a *bad* person. just not very interesting and kinda nosy. he personally just kinda accepts that he doesn't have many friends and so if he ever got really really close to someone in the way that he ends up getting close to selvan (and the way he really did get close to his previous traveling companions, despite their insistences that they were going to leave him behind at every town they stopped at - he was an annoying part of their life for more than a year), he would be fucked up when they died. enough to maybe (maybe) stop caring what kind of cause he died pursuing and just start getting more and more desperate to die and increasingly torn up because he realises that that desire is less the 'selfless' desire to die protecting others and more of a selfish one to go to where selvan is
