     It's at the faint stench of smoke that Joan wrinkled her nose, looking up so as to at least find a vague direction of the source, sandwich in front of her mouth for a good few moments before she took her first bite.

                    ----It was odd.

     She hadn't seen anyone smoking here. Coming from New York, a city of smokers, such a thing had been a shock to the system, and so though not a habit she found particularly appealing, it did seem almost... homely.
