it's not QUITE as blatantly homophobic as persona 4 but its plot is way, waaaay better and has cooler themes & story & characters & villains & mechanics overall. i totally recommend it, if u need a more solid pitch hmu & i can provide

I believe you. Like, its really important for me to be clear that all of my criticizing is grounded in a sense of love, I am not going to escape persona as a franchise until i die because it was too formative and important to me. If I had the money and free time i’d already have played p5. 

It just also makes me furious and anything I say about the games critically has to incorporate the abject failure I perceive from them re: dealing with LGBT rep, and thus human attraction, on any meaningful level. 

like p4 had HOW many remakes and they never decided to dust off yosuke’s old cut romance arc with the protagonist and put it in the game? they had lines RECORDED for that shit before they cut it, it’s cowardice, pure and simple. 

this stuff changing was my one big hope for p5 and ive been repressing the anger ever since but if i’m going to suck the games dick for its perfect aesthetic and fascinating themes (and i WILL, believe me i will if i ever get the chance to produce actual Content(tm) about it) i am definitely, definitely also taking the opportunity to complain about the franchise basically showing me the door when it had the chance and LITERALLY THOUGHT about including me in the playground

like Persona has literally gone backwards here, Persona 2 had two protagonists who could be in a relationship! I forget their names but im sure @alotofmomos or @nelfes know. It’s infuriating. 

Anyway i am serious for all my complaining feel free to drown my submission and asks in instances where Persona 5 touches on Gnostic stuff, even if you’re not sure about it i’ll be happy to take a look because...i love these games and know I will love whatever stuff p5 dumps on my anguished, conflicted face

the only game on this list i have experience with is hollow knight - it’s a good game but the controls are a lil too floaty for my tastes. if yr open to other recommendations that’re on sale rn tho, crosscode is a game that’s been filling the Game Void for me lately, it’s a single-player game that’s set in the world of an MMORPG which is a really neat concept. it’s just about to come out of early access but its almost a finished game, some v late levels arent there yet night in the woods, sunless sea, darkest dungeon, and inside are all v good on-sale games as well

I’ve had Crosscode’s demo for ages and I’ve never booted it up, I totally should.

I have Darkest Dungeon, I’m not in the brainspace for Sunless Sea, I’m saving Night in the Woods for a good time, and I’m intensely uninterested in Inside, given it’s subject matter. But regardless, I appreciate the recs. Most are on my wishlist!

he made a vore-themed mariomaker level for an Actual Broadcasted Super Mario Competition and he built a thing that looked like his own head that the players had to walk into and every time they went down the throat there was a HORRIBLE SCREAMING SOUND EFFECT and the level was extremely difficult so the competitors had to jump into griffin mcelroy’s horrible deadly stomach over & over & over again in front of a live audience & a youtube livestream

Kanaya or Rose, probably, with Roxy running one shots. Jake insists on being a gunslinger, no matter what edition.

Rose might be excellent. She has a lot of lore in her head but has such a fucking wicked sense of humor, I think she could pull off a weird character driven game so well.

Jake as a homebrew gunslinger a la Percy would honestly be fucking excellent. Give him the high stakes mechanic that Percy uses (low rolls require gun repair, high rolls are devastating), and he’d be tres excellent.

dirk’s games always get really existential and dark after a while, and he definitely runs a pony pals campaign. weirdly i think dave would be a surprisingly excellent dm

CONCEPT: Dirk DMing. Dave wants to play bard, but wants his instrumental proficiency to be beatboxing. Dirk stares at him for a moment before going, “Okay. But you have to do it IC.” And instead of rolling, Dave has to fucking beatbox when he bard would, and Dirk is a very stern judge of how good his checks are and makes him work for it.

griffin gives the boys so many magic items that the only reason they dont blast thru every adventure in like 3 eps is that they forget what they have, like, 98% of the time. gotta love those organic nerfs

Dave talking about vaping is basically Griffin McElroy talking about it, all the overenthusiasm, deeply sarcastic “ripping the biiig cotton, my bro” and such. John might be the Purest Vaper, who does it because he likes it and avoids falling into any of the cultural bullshit around it.
